"Alles im grünen Bereich" - "Climate change and winter sports" are the subjects of the first European Cartoon-Contest "Winterberger Winterspott 2007/08".
All representatives of the funny and critical art can let their imagination run wild.
In the course of the Cartoon Contest a committee of experts will select the best motives of the submitted works and assign awards totalling to app. 10 000 Euros.
This Cartoon-Contest will take place in the German town Winterberg (Sauerland) - known for its winter sports and trekking tours.

The 8th Tehran Cartoon Biennial - Iran
The 8th Tehran International Cartoon Biennial organizing committee invites cartoonists from all over the world to participate in this contest.
Regulation:
1) The contest is open to all cartoonists.
2) The contest will be in four categories:
A- Cartoon (Two Sections) Theme: 1. Money 2. Free.
B- Comic strip, theme: Bad luck.
C- Caricature, theme: Free. Special Prize theme: Luciano Pavarotti.
3) THE PRIZES:
Grand Prize: 8000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention (The main cartoon theme)
First Prize: 2000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
Second Prize: 1500$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
Third Prize: 1000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
The first to Third Prize will be awarded separately for each section of the contest.
The jury panel of the 8th Tehran Cartoon Biennial will also award 10 selected artists with Honorable Mentions.
Special Prizes will be offered by various Sponsors, Establishments, Associations, Newspapers and Agencies.
4) A maximum of 3 works in each section can be submitted by the participating cartoonists.
5) The dimensions of works should not exceed the minimum 20x30 cm and maximum 30x40 cm.
6) Comic strip must be presented in one page and without any words.
7) Only original artworks are accepted, without any kind of frame, accompanied by the entry form and author's short biography and photo.
8) Quality prints of works achieved by digital tools will be accepted as originals as long as they are hand signed by the author, accompanied by the digital file of the artwork in Tiff format with 300 Dpi resolution on a CD. No photocopies or photographs will be accepted.
9) Name, surname, address, phone number and e-mail of the participant should be written on the back of each cartoon
10) The choice of technique is free, color or B&W and etc.
11) The deadline: October 22, 2007 Depending on the posting date.
12) The participating cartoons will not be returned.
13) All cartoonists whom their cartoons are published in the catalogue will receive a free copy.
14) The organizers will do their best to protect all submitted cartoons from any probable damage, but takes no responsibility of the damages caused by post or bad transport.
15) The organizers hold all the rights to publish the cartoons submitted to the contest and use them in any from.
16) All participants are considered to accept all the conditions.

Nature & Man Cartoon Contest - Turkey
THE PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST NATURE & MAN
SUBJECT : Nature and Man
The subject of the year 2007 : Global Climate Change and Our World.
The Association of Cartoonists, TEMA Foundation and Cartoon Publishing organize this contest aiming to direct people for focusing more on this matter by describing through cartoons that mankind will sooner or later face these dangers and by focusing on their probable results and also aiming to create an attitude and behavioral change in the society in order to slow down this process.
The contest is open for all the amateur and professional cartoonists.
Technique is free. Can be color or black and white.
The size is A4 (21 x 29.7 cm).
Contestant cartoons can be sent only through internet.
Awards: By the end of each month, the best 3 cartoons of that month will be selected and 20 saplings will be planted in Tekirdag Memorial forest on their behalf. An introductory sign will be erected on the plantation region.
The works that are sent to the contest will be exhibited through internet.
By the end of the year, the awarded works and works determined by the selection committee will be collected in a CD and will be sent to the authors of the works as free of charge.
The cartoons of the contest, whether awarded or not, may be exhibited in the introductory announcements of the contest and they can be published in books, magazines, posters, postcards.
Copyrights will not be paid to the authors of the works for these publications. In case they are used for other purposes or by third parties, then permission will be obtained from the author of the work.
Those who send their works to the contest, will also indicate whether they can be used or not, on t-shirts to be produced by TEMA Foundation's Economic Management in order to obtain revenue.
The utilization rights of the works are for Turkey.
The artists participating in the contest will be deemed to accept all the participation conditions.
This contest is organized by the Association of Cartoonists, TEMA Foundation and Cartoon Publishing. Since environmental disasters are continuous, our contest will also continue without interruption.

CineCartoon International - Turkey
CineCartoon International Cartoon Competition is organised in Turkey by International Izmir Short Film Festival and 35 Izmir Film Festival. It is planned to keep this competition annually as a tradition within the festival. Competition is open to all professional and amateur cartoon artists from all countries. The exhibit to be held this year has a theme on "cinema and woman".
General Info
1.Original works should be sent to the competition. If the cartoons are sent as a computer output, it should have original signature (wet signature) on it. Photographs, photocopies, etc. won't be accepted.
2.The size of the cartoons to be sent can not exceed A3 paper (29,7 x 42 cm).
3.CinCartoon organisation is not responsible of any damages or losses during transport or on mail.
4.Exhibition is open to professional and amateur artists.
5.To apply, the online entry form should be filled in. A short biography and a photograph of the artist should be sent along with the original work. Otherwise the application won't be accepted.
6.Cartoons should be sent to the festival as scanned at least 300 dpi, jpg format. The maximum file size is 10MB. The address to be sent is info@cinecartoon.net.

Zlatkovsky exhibition in Turkey
Anadolu University Museum of Cartoon Art is displaying Mihail M. Zlatkovsky's works in Turkey. There are 60 cartoons in the exhibition about problems in human life by the world-famous Russian artist. They will be on exhibition between Sep 26 - Oct 22, 2007 at: Anadolu Üniversitesi Eğitim Karikatürleri Müzesi, Akcami Mh. Malhatun Sk. No: 6 Odunpazarı ESKİŞEHİR / TURKEY.
The opening ceremony is at 17.30 on Wednesday, Sep 26, 2007.
MIKHAIL M. ZLATKOVSKY
Was born in August, 21, 1944 at village of St.Christopher, Tambov region in a family of The Red Army officers. The family legend says that Russian branch of Zlatkovskies is from a Polish nobility traced back to the end of XII century. After suppression of Kostyushko' rebellion, (end of XVIII century), the great-great-grandfather of the artist was banished to Russia. All men in the family were a sort of priests: before 1831 - Catholics, after - orthodox priests in the Oryol province, European part of Russia.
The grandfather, Kozma Mikolajevitch, did not accept "Sergijanski's heresy" and served secretly as a priest of Russian Cave Church for fourteen years. He was executed on November 26, 1937. The father, Michael Kuzmitch, a colonel, a professor, and a doctor of the military sciences. Being 7 years old, he has officially refused from his father, then from his son at his 72.
Mikhail Zlatkovsky was graduated from Moscow Engineering-Physical Institute (Nuclear Physics Dept.) in 1967 with major in Accelerators of Elementary Particles and worked as the physicist-researcher for 5 years.
In 1971 throw out physics and became a free-lance artist.
Worked as the Chief-Art-Designer in several leading newspapers and magazines. In 1993-98 used to live in the USA, where was Chief-art director of newspapers.
Now the Editorial Cartoonist of the daily all-state newspaper "New Messages ".
Primary activity: political cartoons and caricature, books and magazines illustration, posters.
The basic direction in creativity: "sense art, "problems graphics".
Art-research scientist of the State Institute of Art, where has prepared the thesis for a doctor's degree "The History of the Russian Cartoon", and wrote text books "The Theory and Practice of Images Creation".
During 1999-2001 term took the professor position at The Moscow State University, department of the art journalism.
Secretary of the Russian Journalists Union
During 18 years (till 2001) his collection of the art awards was the biggest all over the world – 211 prizes of the international and national competitions of cartoons, animations, posters, designs, illustrations, among its there are about 50 Grand prizes - "Gold Esope " of Gabrovo, Bulgaria, Grand prix of Montreal, Canada, "the Gold Hat " of Knokke-Hiest, Belgium, (twice), the First prize in Istanbul, Turkey, Grand prix in South Korea, "Gold Date" of Bordighery, Italy, "the Gold Egg" of Kroushoutem, Belgium, "the Gold Pencil "of "Satyricon", Poland, and others.
The most important art achievements are:
In 1992, was awarded as "The Best Artist in a Cartooning" after international Peers interrogation,
“Gold pen”- the highest Russian professional artist award. 2003,
“The Best artist of the world”,- Grand prix of the XVI Amadora International cartoons festival, Portugal, 2005.
Personal exhibitions in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy (twice), in Malta, Poland (twice), Russia, Switzerland, USA.

7th Barakaldo
Conditions
The city of Barakaldo organizes the "New technologies" seventh international contest of pictorial humour and flash humour.
The cartoonists will send a work of illustrated humour or FLASH in relation with new technologies which have a considerable impact on the day to day life (i.e. internet, biology, space, telecommunications, medicine, etc...). The idea is to help citizens to think about the new grounds for scientific progress.
Non-animated category 1st Prize 2006: Marcin Bondarowicz / Poland (see right above)
1. Applicants:
The competition is open to everyone, especially with no regard of age. Each applicant can present a maximum of three piece of work. The works of the authors who won the Hermes prize the year before will not be taken in consideration.
2. Form and size:
The scenes and characters will have to be originals and of proper creation. The works can be drawn in black and white or in colour. They can be either static or with motion. As far as the motion piece of work is concerned, it must not weight more than one mega. The works will have a length of one page that will not exceed 800 x 600 pixels, with a minimum resolution of 72 pixels per inch.
The authors must not include their name or any other information about themselves on the works. Otherwise, they will be eliminated from the contest.
3. Languages:
Only two languages can be used: spanish and basque. Nonetheless the panel will take into consideration works of pictorial interest without text, proceeding from artists of places where these languages are not used.

4. Presentation:
Applicants will send a e-mail with their names, surnames, address, date of birth, passport number, telephone number. They will send this e-mail with the file of the picture in format JPEG, GIF, GIF animated or FLASH.
5. Place and deadline of the application:
The piece of work with the reference of the artist will be sent exclusively through e-mail, to the following address: hermesbarakalmailto:hermesbarakaldo@barakaldo.org before 2007 October 8th.

6. Virtual showing: The city contemplates realizing a public diffusion of the works presented and lately selected by the panel.
7. Awards: The "Hermes de Barakaldo" prize is divided in two categories:

1st prize: 1.200 euros
2nd prize: 800 euros
3rd prize: 600 euros
Non-animated category:
1st prize: 1.200 euros
2nd prize: 800 euros
3rd prize: 600 euros
8. Panel: A qualified panel of judges will pick out the best works. Prizes will be handed on the first week of December 2007, in Barakaldo. The city leaves to the panel the possibility to declare no winners, according to quality criteria.

2. Participation: All cartoonists, professional or not, are allowed to submit original works, since they have not been awarded in other saloons up to the deadline for registrations. Each author may submit up to 3 (three) works developed under any technique, including those ones done by computers. For each work sent, one entry form must be filled up. 4. Sending the works: All works, including those ones drawn by hand, must be sent by e-mail, resolution 300 DPIs, color mode RGB, JPG (average quality - 5) or PDF up to the limit of 1,5 MB for each work. Each e-mail must contain only one work and it must come with the respective entry form.
5. Prizes:
5.1 The guiding criteria for selecting and awarding will be:
Creativity.
Originality (The work must not have been published in any kind of media and must not have been awarded in this kind of competition either).
Quality of the drawings.
5.2 Prizes: The prize for the first place will be R$ 10.000,00 (Ten thousand Reais) plus a trophy and a certificate. The second and third places will receive trophies and certificates. The jury may give honorable mentions to the participants.
The awarded works will be part of the brazilcartoon Artwork Collection.
Prizes not taken in 90 (ninety) days after the releasing of the results will become worthless.
The value of the prize for international works will be converted to dollars according to its value on June 27th 2007, date of the beginning of the competition. The prize will be paid in March 2008.
6. Copyright: By submitting their works, the authors transfer automatically all copyright of their awarded works to brazilcartoon, which may use the works freely. The awarded works will be part of the brazilcartoon Artwork Collection.
7. Disagreement on results: If the jury verifies any kind of fraud or plagiarism on one or more works, it will cancel the prize. The works will be on the website http://www.brazilcartoon.com/ in October 2007 and the results may be contested up to 10 (ten) days after the opening of the saloon, supported by proper proves of any mistake made by the jury. Works sent that are not according to these rules and regulations or those containing any kind of plagiarism will be automatically excluded of the contest.
