The 28th International Open Cartoon Contest "Drone", Zielona Gora 2026, Poland

THE 28th INTERNATIONAL OPEN CARTOON CONTEST "DRONE"
REGULATIONS
The Cyprian Norwid Provincial and Municipal Public Library in Zielona Góra and the Association of Friends of the Norwid Library announce the 28th Open International Satirical Cartoon Competition. This year's theme is "DRONE".
Unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as drones, were used in warfare operations as early as World War I. Today, the range of possible uses for drones is almost unimaginable. They have revolutionized the modern battlefield, becoming a key tool across the planet. The choice of this year's slogan was largely in the context of the countless armed conflicts surrounding us, particularly the ongoing war in Ukraine. It was also significant that "Dron" was named the Word of the Year 2025 in a poll announced by the Institute of Polish Language at the University of Warsaw.
Fortunately, drones have also found applications in civilian life. They aid in scientific research, industry, and agriculture. They increase the safety and operational capabilities of emergency services. They are useful in forensics, advertising, and marketing. They have become a permanent fixture in recreational use. Thanks to them, we can view fascinating aerial shots and record extreme sports feats. They have also become a popular motif for jokes and memes exposing life's absurdities and human shortcomings. We smile, often without reflection, when "big brother" peers in and invades our privacy. A seasoned satirist will find an inexhaustible source of ideas here. In short, a never-ending river.
The competition organizers invite champions to compete in this demanding competition, demanding talent, acumen, and wit. The competition is open to both professionals and amateurs.
