Posting the catalog Nasreddin Hodja 2009 & brochure 2010

29th International Nasreddin Hodja Cartoon Contest 2009 catalog is posted yesterday to the selected artists.
We met at the association center and prepared the bubblebag envelopes including the catalogs for the post. All the participants will receive the new brochure of the contest 2010: we have sent that as well.
It was a heavy job for the day being national holiday and the International Children’s Holiday (April 23), there were few workers on duty at the main post office in Sirkeci, Istanbul and they were very busy esp with the international phone calls. We posted the catalogs to Brasil, China, and the like far countries by airmail and others by surface mail. It took all day long to finish our voluntary work.
By the way, the Grand Prize of the contest is increased to $ 5.000.- this year! And the theme is FREE THEME as usual.

"Exploitation and Workers' Rights" exhibition catalog

Having not been to the post office for two weeks, I found in the box today the catalog of the "Critical Look Through a Humoristic Line" exhibition organised by PCP in Lisbon, Portugal, in March 2010. It was sent on April 6 and possibly arrived a week ago.
112 artists from 37 countries sent in 360 cartoons for the exhibition with the theme "Exploitation and workers’ rights" and 227 entries are included in the catalog of size 15.1x15 cm with some color pages of total 240. It is published in Lisbon in March 2010. From Turkey the contributing artists are: Bayramoglu, Askin Ayrancioglu, Emre Yilmaz, Erdogan Basol, Hicabi Demirci, and Kemal Ozyurt.
"The critical point of view, the creativity, the artistry and sense of humor that we found in the many hundreds of works submitted reveal an ideal of our time and the universality of the struggle of the working class and all workers against exploitation and injustice, and for more rights and better wages," writes Jeronimo de Sousa, General-Secretary of PCP, in his introductory words to the catalog.
They have also sent a copy of the invitation brochure of the exhibition which was open between March 18 - April 9. Many thanks to the organisers for they do what they promise and without delay.

2010 Red Man Prize of Love with theme: Disaster

2010 RED MAN INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST - PRIZE OF LOVE
Disasters are striking the whole world again and again. The big earthquakes from time to time not only shocked the earth, but also shocked people's hearts in the meantime. Recently big earthquakes struck Haiti, Chile, China and some other countries. Disasters including flood in Brazil, snow disaster in America, draught disaster in southwest China and volcanic eruption in Iceland...happened one by one. Greenhouse effect brings more and more suffering to human beings. The earth is a big village and we are all the villagers. Let us devote our love, pray for the sufferers and bless them. Wish less disasters and more happiness to our earth!
China Redman Center is always devoting itself to the public welfare. In the spring of 2008, Redman Center donated some books to the children in the mountain area in Qinghai Province, China. Teachers from Beijing University who went Qinghai to support the education took the books there to help the primary school to build the library. Recently, the earthquake happened in Qinghai pulled our hearts strings. We sincerely hope the children there are safe, healthy and tide the difficulty. In 2009, Redman Center designed the annuals for a Chinese charity without any charges. Our behavior is also supported by our coteries. Is there anybody out there?

Dear Cartoonists,
Below is the message (giving the participation conditions of a cartoonet competition) forwarded to me by a cartoonist friend in Turkey. The message is sent to his website mailbox.
Well, could you tell who is responsible for this competition? Is there an organisation, an association, a municipality, a city council, a gallery, a website, or a cartoonist behind this event? If there is, why don’t they show up?
Please remember what happened with the "Ethiopia cartoon contest 2009": http://arescuba.blogspot.com/2009/04/ethiopia-cartoon-fraud.html
All carried out through internet: they even revealed(!) winners, and reliable cartoon sites did not hesitate to announce the results!
There are few other fake competitions in the net nowadays I’m afraid. Please take notice and beware the cartoon collectors through cartoonet competitions. They are exploiting honest people’s priceless work! Some body is stealing honest artists’ invaluable talent, ideas, and gags!
Check the NEW FECO Model Regulations for Cartoon Competitions (2009), especially the PS note in the bottom lines: http://caricaturque.blogspot.com/2010/02/feco-model-regulations-for-cartoon.html
