Pro Loco of Gallarate holds the XXII exhibition Humour a Gallarate. International Cartoon Contest – Grand Prix “Marco Biassoni” for cultural purposes, to attest the worthy creative contents of thought and the humoristic graphic art which contribute to the development of conscius, innovative, pluralistic and open-minded social relationship.
Regulations
1) The contest is open to all professional cartoonists, caricaturists, illustrators and graphic artists from all over the world. The contest is articulated in 3 sections (Graphics/Cartoon, Satire, Caricature)
2) Theme: Tear down the Wall
Sections: A) Graphics/Cartoon | B) Satire | C) Caricature
It’s possible to participate in all the sections.
3) Entries: max. 3 works. The artworks must be original, UNPUBLISHED WORK, and accompanied by the author's photo or caricature, entry-form and biography. Each work should bear the signature or mark of the author and name, surname, address, phone number and other data on the back.
The authors have to indicate the section for each work.
4) Size: A4 (21 x 29,7 cm)
5) Technique: Free.
The artworks produced with graphics programs, will be accepted for the competition ONLY if sent also in hard copy, signed by the author.
The artworks submitted in digital format, via email or digital devices, will not be considered for the awards, but only for the exhibition and the catalogue.
6) Deadline: October the 18th 2016
Artworks must be received at Pro Loco offices by the 18th of October 2016
7) Jury: The selection of works and the awarding of prizes is exclusive jurisdiction of the Jury, appointed by the Pro Loco Gallarate, which will meet on 22nd of October 2016 in Gallarate.
The jury's decision is final.
8) Prizes: the Jury will award the following prizes:
Grand Prix "Marco Biassoni" for the best work among all the sections (Graphics/Cartoon, Satire, Caricature) - 1.000 € + diploma
1st Prize for each section (Graphics/Cartoon, Satire, Caricature) – 500 € + diploma
One special Mention of Jury – Diploma for each section
5 works selected for each section (Graphics/Cartoon, Satire, Caricature) – diploma
1 Special Prize Osvaldo Cavandoli "Cava" (creator of the famous character “La Linea”) for the best work of all sections, that combines humoristic beauty with the essentiality of graphic execution - 500 € + diploma
9) Exhibition: November 6th – December 18th 2016 at the Minoletti building situated in Garibaldi Square (Gallarate).
Opening ceremony: Saturday November the 6th 2016, at 11:00 AM
All authors who will attend the opening ceremony are invited to a rustic lunch.
9) Catalogue: Each selected author, exhibited in shows and published in the catalog, will receive a complimentary copy of the same.
10) Property: the Organizers reserve the rights to reproduce the cartoons in catalogue, newspapers, or posters to promote the Contest and to exhibit a selection of works in other locations in Italy and other countries. None of works will be returned but will be included in the "Humour Gallarate Collection".
By submitting the works, the author accepts the rules and regulations of the Contest and the decisions of the Jury.

Miami Dade College, West Campus, and the online magazine SuiteHumor.com invite all cartoonists to take part in the WE THE VOTE Salon. The Salon will open on September 29, 2016 at MDC West, 3800 NW 115th Ave. Doral, FL 33178, USA.
The Salon will exhibit cartoons that reflect voting as a civic duty and a right of the citizens. The event will be a way of expressing the importance of voting, especially in a presidential election year.
The participating cartoons could not have been previously published or have won awards in any contest or event.
The deadline to submit works is September 2, 2016.
Participating cartoons will be sent as email attachments to the event’s official email address:

Participants whose works are selected to be part of the Salon will receive a Certificate of Participation.
The jury will be made up by internationally recognized Miami cartoonists, SuiteHumor.com humorists, and MDC West representatives. The jury’s decision cannot be appealed.

3. THE RULES
(A) ANIMATION:
Film of animation \ TV of animation \ Short Subject of animation
Any of the following animation types are acceptable: painted cel, computer-assisted or computer-generated, stop-motion (including clay animation), 2D work, 3D work, FLASH, puppet animation, paper-cutting work.
1). Format:
a. All works must be submitted on DVD (CD) or by Email with high definition.
b. compressed work such as “ .RAR ”format is not allowed
c. animated submissions (including FLASH) should be submitted in “.MPG”, “.AVI”, “.MOV” format. For each FLASH work, a copy of “.SWF” submission and 5 still images are required separately, which is used to present character and background with a minimum size of “300 dpi” in “.TIFF” or “.JPG”. A poster: 6cm x 8cm,“300 dpi” “TIFF” or “JPG”.A life photos of director.A entry form of author.
d. In case of multiple submissions, please separate each individual submission. An uninterrupted multi-work submission is not allowed.
2). Resolution and Length:
a. Film of animation: The resolution is not less than 1920*1080. Time is not less than 60 minutes. The trailers for 30 seconds .
b. TV of animation : The resolution is not less than 720*576. At least 10 sets .
c. Short Subject of animation : Not less than 3 mins, no more than 30 minutes.
d. Character Design: 10 pictures (Front, back, positive side, 3/4 side, display figure)
e: Expression: 30 pictures.
3). Language:
a. All works must be subtitled in English or China.
b.The story background, synopsis, brief introduction, and character description are required in either Chinese or English electronic-version.
4). Eligibility
a. The applicant has the copyrights of the work.
b. Anyone living in the world, is eligible to enter; groups and individuals are eligible for entry.
c. Professional and amateur artists are eligible for entry.
d. The applicant must be the copyright owner of the submission.
e. The applicant may enter multiple works.
f. Group entries that win prizes are responsible for sharing/apportioning any prize money won among themselves.

3). Final selection
All nomination works shall be judged by the International Jury. The final results will be announced during the Awarding Ceremony.
6. INVITATION
The organizing committee will be invited the nomination author to attend the awards ceremony, the organizing committee will provide accommodation and reception.
7. NOTICE
1). Works awarded in other contests can be submitted.
2). Submission will not be returned; so please do not send us your only copy!

Catalog Zagreb 2016, 21st International Cartoon Exhibition, Croatia
Received yesterday the new catalog 21st International Cartoon Exhibition, Zagreb 2016, Croatia. The theme is "Healthy Lifestyle" and the winners already announced in May. 19x19 cm in size, the 96 pages catalog is half in color and half b&w. The longed-for preface is written by one of the world-famous Croatian cartoonists, Srećko Puntarić - Felix. He also provided some treatment against smoking in his artistic style. You can read these on pages 4-5 of the catalog in PDF here.
The recent edition has seen the arrival of 700 works of 282 authors from 59 countries. From Turkey are included the works of four cartoonists in the catalog: Erdogan Basol, Oktay Bingol, Musa Gumus, and Kemal Ozyurt.

The competition came in 1115 cartoons of 384 participants from 56 countries.
In the pre-eliminated 34 authors.
Missed theme is on 465 cartoons.
In the competition for the award was attended by 606 cartoons.

International Cartoon Contest.
Azerbaijan Cartoonists’ Union announces International Cartoon Contest “Molla Nasreddin - Azerbaijan - 2016”.International Cartoon Contest.
The VII International Cartoon Contest is held by the support of Azerbaijan Republic Culture and Tourism Ministry, Azerbaijan Artists’ Union and Federation of Cartoonists Organisations.
The year of 2016 was declared the Year of Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan by the Decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and in this regard “Molla Nasreddin Azerbaijan- 2016” International Cartoon Contest has been dedicated to this subject.
The Terms of the Contest:
1. The topic of the Contest: “Multiculturalism” (Tolerance).
2. Deadline of the acceptance of works: 15 October 2016 (EXTENDED:) 15 November 2016.
3. The Contest is held via internet.
4. Each cartoonist can send 2-5 works.
5. The size of cartoon works must be in 300 dpi on jpg.

6. Cartoon works will be appreciated by the International Jury.
7. A book consisting of the best cartoons of the Contest will be published.

IMEON - BALKANS FOUNDATION SMILE ART FEST 2016, Bulgaria
Foundation "Imeon-Balkans" is organizing the 7th edition of the Cartoon Festival for Mail Art and Humorous Drawing under the patronage of the Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications of Republic of Bulgaria.General sponsor: Post Bank - Bulgaria.
The festival is open for all cartoonists and artists drawing humor from around the world.
Themes:
• DESTINATION BALKANS, DESTINATION BULGARIA – The humor in the lives of the Balkan nations - yesterday, today and tomorrow.
• THEME OF THE GENERAL SPONSOR: DESTINATION FUTURE - THE FUTURE OF BANKING - mobile and internet banking, innovative technologies.
Competition program will run in to two sections:
1. Cartoon and humorous drawing related with the themes of the competition.
Parameters: mandatory size - A4 on cardboard, at least 160 g/m², originals or high quality digital copies with wet signature of the artist, with or without reworking on the digital overlay.
• 1st Prize - 500 € + statue and diploma
• 2nd prize - 300 € and diploma
• 3rd prize - 200 € and diploma
• 9 nominations with diploma.
2. Post Art / Mail Art:
The cartoon must be drawn on an envelope in A4 size, which can be hand made, sent by traditional mail, and bearing all postal attributes (stamps and seals) of the country sender.
• Special Award
• 1st Prize - 500 € + statue and diploma
• 2nd prize - 300 € and diploma
• 3rd prize - 200 € and diploma
• 9 nominations with diploma.
There are no restrictions on the number of sent cartoons and envelopes.
