Results the 3rd Diogenes of Sinop International Cartoon Competition 2024, Turkey

“NO TO NUCLEAR!” THEMED, DIOGENE OF SINOP

3RD INTERNATIONAL CARTOON COMPETITION HAS ENDED

“No to Nuclear!” organized by Ayancık Municipality and Sinop Writers, Poets and Artists Association. The 3rd Diogenes of Sinope International Cartoon Competition has concluded. 

Ayancık Mayor Hayrettin Kaya (Turkey), sculpture artist Eşref Baş (Turkey), writer Tufan Bilgili (Turkey) and cartoon artists Adnan Taç (Turkey), Altan Özeskici (Turkey), Ares-Aristides Hernandez (Cuba), Aşkın Ayrancıoğlu (Turkey). ), Erhan Yaşar Babalık (Turkey), Fan Lintao (China), Leila Alaiy (Iran), Mehmet Selçuk (Turkey) and Musa Keklik (Turkey) examined 620 works of 240 artists from 48 countries. 

Sinop, which takes its name from Sinope, who made Zeus fall in love with her, is under a nuclear threat these days. Diogenes from Sinope was also looking for support for Sinop "against the nuclear power plant", instead of walking around with a lantern in his hand during the day and "looking for a man"... We would like to thank all the artists who were not insensitive to Diogenes' search and stood against nuclear power with their works. With his valuable works, he explains nuclear as political, humanitarian, economic, ecological, vital, environmental, etc. Among the artists who examine the subject from different perspectives and reflect this with aesthetic values, those deemed worthy of the award are listed as follows…

CARTOONS FOR OBJECTION

Dear cartoonists and cartoonist organization officials: We are sending the cartoons that the 13th International Cartoon Contest Selection Committee scored and determined as finalists for objection.

These cartoons may be similar, imitated or copied. They might have won an award in another contest before. Please report these cartoons (providing the exact date and documentation).

Documented cartoons will be canceled and other cartoons with high scores will be taken into consideration.

The objection period is until July 16, 2024 (24.00 midnight – Cyprus Time)

The necessary documents and information in this regard should be sent to olivecartoons@gmail.com 

Objections without an exact date and documentation will not be taken into consideration.

Size of entries is A4 or A3 format (jpg 300 dpi) required.

OTHER CONDITIONS 

Authors of works that qualify for the exhibition of 50 authors will be given a copy of the catalogue. The organizer reserves the right to reproduce the works sent to the exhibition as the advertising material, without being obliged to pay a fee to an author.

The 10th International Cartoon Contest, Ymittos 2024, Greece

Submission Deadline: July 30, 2024

Terms of Participation 

Each participant may present up to 3 original works, printable in A3 size with margins around the drawing. The cartoons may be in black or white or coloured. 

The resolution of the works should be at least 300 dpi. 

The drawings should not contain any text or comments. 

The use of collage is not permitted. 

The works should be sent via e-mail. 

Any drawings judged by the Jury to have been copied from other cartoonists’ works will be disqualified. 

The works should be original and not previously published or presented in other exhibitions. 

The works should not include any offensive material. Each artist must complete the Application Form with his/her components. Each participant should make available a brief CV, an e-mail address, a Zoom account (if available) and a postal address. 

All drawings participating in the exhibition may be presented in a travelling exhibition in Greece or abroad. 

The works can only be used for non-profit purposes; in any case, with the name of the artist and the event explicitly mentioned. 

Any works not corresponding to the above requirements will not be accepted and the cartoonist will be informed accordingly by e-mail. 

Exhibition 

About 200 works chosen by the International Jury will be exhibited. 

The prizes will be decided by the International Jury. 

The International Jury consists of intellectuals and artists of high repute. 

Rights 

The works may be used as part of the advertising campaign of the exhibition. On no account should drawings or copies be sold. Moreover, any commercial exploitation of part or all of the exhibition is prohibited. 

The participating artists will not receive payment of any kind for their participation. 

The copyright of the Exhibition is owned jointly by the organizers, the Municipality of Dafni – Ymittos and Ergastiri. 

Participation in the exhibition implies full acceptance of the above. 

Participants will receive a digital catalogue of the exhibition via the organizer’s website. 

The original works that have won a prize should be sent to the organizers, to the following address: Sports Culture Organization of the Municipality of Dafni-Ymittos (International Cartoon Contest & Exhibition in Ymittos), Ilioupoleos 120, Dafni, Attica, Greece.

The best works will be awarded. 

1st Prize: 500 euros 

2nd Prize: 300 euros 

3rd Prize: 100 euros 

4th Prize: an album of works by the expressionist painter George Bouzianis published by Benaki Museum (english or greek edition) 

5th Prize: book or CD. 

Praises will also be awarded. 

All participants whose works will be exhibited will receive a Digital Certificate of Participation.
