"Freedom": The 8th Cartoon Contest, Caminos de la Libertad 2023, Mexico

8th Cartoon Contest, Caminos de la Libertad 2023, Mexico
The Caricature is an act of provocation, of criticism; capable of defending freedom through humor. Caminos de la Libertad invites reflection and discussion on the different aspects of freedom, generating thought around it and making those who have not yet realized its value in their lives aware of it.
Freedom is the fundamental right of human beings, but efforts to limit it have become systematic in the contemporary world.
There is no more direct and effective form of communication than caricature. Since its inception, it has been a tool for criticizing and analyzing the reality of our world. In the search to promote debate around freedom, Grupo Salinas announces the caricature contest.
Guidelines:
• People from anywhere in the world can participate in this contest.
• The works must be completely original and unpublished, and if they contain words, they must be in Spanish. They should not be participating simultaneously in any other contest. Adaptations of other originals will not be accepted.
• "Freedom" should be the theme of the cartoon. The winning works will be those that best capture, analyze, contrast, promote and disseminate it, those that offer proposals to expand the options of freedom in Mexican society or to present examples of success and failure in the application of this right. • Each participant may submit as many works as they wish.
• The works must be presented in JPEG format at the best possible resolution.
- The works must be signed with a pseudonym. The author will send, in the same email as their work, a file in which they will write the pseudonym, the title of the caricature, the author's full name, their address, occupation, telephone number, email address, and a brief biographical summary.
• The works must be sent by email to the following address:
• This call for entries will be in effect from today until June 30, 2023
• The composition of the jury will remain confidential until the publication of the verdict.
• The results of the contest will be announced on the website www.caminosdelalibertad.com
The winners will be notified directly at the address, telephone number or email address provided.
• Those contestants whose works are chosen to be published must sign the necessary documentation that will be provided to them.
• The jury's decision will be final. The prize may be declared void if the jury deems that none of the works presented has sufficient quality. The jury will be empowered to resolve any situation related to the contest that is not specified in these guidelines.
• Three cash prizes in Mexican pesos will be awarded:
First place: $30,000.00
Second place: $20,000.00
Third place: $10,000.00

• In the event that the prize published in this call for entries is not claimed within three months from the date of publication on the official Caminos de la Libertad website, as well as on its social networks, Caminos de la Libertad may use the amount of said prize for whatever purpose it deems appropriate, without the winner being able to make any subsequent claim of any kind.
• Any work that does not comply with the provisions of these rules will be disqualified.
• Participation in this contest presupposes acceptance of these rules. No awards or prizes will be given, nor will the works of participants who do not comply with the provisions of this call be published.

1st Edition of the International Cartoon Contest "Safety at work", Italy

FARAONE – INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST “SAFETY AT WORK”
REGULATIONS
ART. 1 – SUBJECT
"Faraone industrie Spa" of Tortoreto (TE) is organising the 1st Edition of the International Cartoon Contest "Safety at work", International Review of humorous graphic art. The aim of the initiative is to contribute to the dissemination of the culture of safety at work through the art of humour and illustration.
A picture is worth a thousand words and we believe that art in all its forms invites reflection and moves the minds of workers and all people.
ART. 2 - CONTEST THEME
"Safety at Work" - the topic must be understood in a general sense and in every aspect, from every point of view and possible interpretation: Safety at Work means working with peace of mind and serenity with suitable equipment in safe places, whether outdoors on construction sites or in offices; it also means ensuring worker safety, the workers of today and tomorrow. Every year 2.2 million workers around the world lose their lives due to occupational accidents or diseases. Ensuring worker safety is a global need and a priority in every country in the world.
This is why we wanted to extend the participation of this initiative to an international level, relying on the sensitivity and creativity of each cartoonist.
The work should invite people to reflect on the importance of work safety. We often think that 'it won't happen to us because nothing has ever happened before', but we are not superheroes and an unforeseen event may result in not being able to return to our loved ones after work.

The 23rd World Press Freedom Canada International Editorial Cartoon Competition 2023

23rd World Press Freedom Canada International Editorial Cartoon Competition 2023
The theme for the 23rd International Editorial Cartoon Competition is:
Free speech or free for all
Intimidation and disinformation have become weapons in the arsenal of politicians and those who seek to control the media narrative.
Donald Trump’s rude behaviour and open disdain for rivals, the media and government institutions has encouraged others, such as Jair Bolsonaro, to emulate him.
On average, Trump lied twenty times per day on Twitter and Facebook, bypassing mainstream media organizations that are responsible for checking facts.
Social media companies profit by creating algorithms that divide us and reward fear and anger, rather than accurate information.
Has mainstream media been derelict in its mission as it struggles to remain profitable? How can we filter abuse without curtailing free speech? And if that is at all possible, who would moderate the moderators?
Competition rules
Three prizes will be awarded:
First prize worth $1500 plus a Certificate from the Canadian Commission for UNESCO
Second prize worth $750
Third prize worth $500
All sums are in Canadian dollars. Ten additional cartoons will receive an Award of Excellence, which are not remunerated.
Only one cartoon may be submitted by each participant, either in colour or black and white, but must not have won an award previously.
World Press Freedom Canada reserves the right to use the winning cartoons for promotion of the Cartoon Competition.
The winners of the Cartoon Competition will be announced on World Press Freedom Day on Thursday May 3, 2023 and will be advised by e-mail.
