6th International Cartoon Contest Sinaloa 2017, México
PARTICIPATION
The Contest is open to all cartoonists from all over the world and beyond.
THEME 1. A country called Mexico.
Despite the high degree of poverty (46.2% of its entire population) and the extreme lack of social equality, Mexico is considered as the fourth emergent economy in the world. In such a context, how it is possible that the world's richest man, with a fortune of 73,000 million US dollars, is Mexican? The country attains a special position in terms of corruption, organized crime, feminicide and enforced disappearance. Ironically, Mexico possesses the most expensive electoral system in the whole world but one that is incapable of organizing clean elections. Every year many Mexicans are forced to cross the US border illegally in search of work, risking life, facing racism and other denigrating abuses. Is Mexico the US backyard? The proverb is now truer than ever: "Poor Mexico, so far from god, too close to the US". This year we are inviting you to express your opinion of this, our highly controversial country, without ignoring its great historical content, its amazing natural beauty and, overall, the kindness and benevolence of its people.
Prize: $30,000 Mexican pesos.
THEME 2: Honouring Rius and Naranjo.
In the last months two of the greatest Mexican cartoonists have left us. We would like to honour them, inviting you to draw a cartoon portrait depicting the importance of their work and its legacy.

A maximum of 2 works can be submitted for each honoured artist.
Eduardo del Rio "Rius" prize: $15,000 Mexican pesos.
Rogelio Naranjo prize: $15,000 Mexican pesos.

36th Int Exhibition of Caricature, Press and Humor Design"Saint-Just-le-Martel" 2017
36th International Exhibition of Caricature, Press and Humor Design"Saint-Just-le-Martel" 2017, France
To Cartoonists, all over the world!
Hello everybody
Most of you have already heard of Saint Just Le Martel and our restless work for the promotion of press cartoons and caricatures.
We will this year celebrate the .... 36th birthday of our annual Salon.
The Center Permanent, inaugurated in September 2011, has already hosted numerous prestigious exhibitions (this year, for example, "expo WILLEM / VUILLEMIN", followed by "CABU, le presidential journal") and we are responding to growing sollicitations from France as well as from abroad.
This success, as you already know, is due to the quality and diversity of our exhibitions, the conducted research work, the seriousness or organization, the solid experience accumulated over time, the presentation of works quality, and the quality of the visitor reception.
All in all, it is largely due to the trust we share with cartoonists, the great friendships built up over the years, and the collaborations initiated and still developed with the most prominent experts in the field ...
Our success also comes from the very nature of this organization, with the remarkable involvement of the most prominent names of cartooning, the outstanding commitment of many volunteers. Those of you who were persent for the last edition have witnessed their new success both in terms of quality and attendance.
The next edition of the Salon will take place from September 30 to October 8, 2017. We hope that you will participate and either send us 8/10 cartoons (preferably on following topics) or come to Saint Just le Martel on either one of the weekends of the salon, or both.
On the general theme: "LIBRES D'EN RIRE" ("FREE TO REMAIN ABOUT IT"), we suggest:
Press cartoons:
- 365 days of French and international current events
- Elections and a new president in France
- Trump, 9 months later
Humor cartoons:
- our dear "Little darlings": "Little brats or cherubs"?
Of course, there will also be retrospectives (Clémenceau. Press cartoonists from 1830 to 2017) and humor cartoons for kids.
Naturally, we are open to all your suggestions ...
There will also be:
- An exhibition / hommage paid to Di Marco, a miscellaneous news cartoonist
- An exhibition "Carte blanche à Philippe Decressac"
- Two exhibitions / hommages from Switzerland are Burki and Mix and Remix with the collaboration of the Maison du Dessin de Presse de Morges.
- Exhibitions of Michel Kichka and Khalid Gueddar (Marocco) who were both winners of the Le Prix de l'Humour Vache last year and who designed this year's poster
- An exhibition of Marilena Nardi, Italian cartoonist, who was awarded the Crayon de Porcelaine, presse étrangère, in 2016
- Le Jazz de Siné
- Moisan, cartoonist for the Canard Enchaîné, who died 30 years ago
- Eclats de Loup puzzles
- France Cartoons: "French people seen by the British and the British as seen by French people."
- A hundred years of caricatures of the winners of the Giro (by Claudio Puglia)
- A traveling exhibition called "Décoder les étoiles" by Cartooning for Peace for the 60th anniversary of the Traité of Rome, about the Founding Fathers of Europe
We are at your disposal to provide you with any information you need about exhibitions, about transportation and accomodation, given that travel costs on the French territory (special SNCF train cars between Paris and Limoges in particular), accommodation and catering costs in Saint-Just Martel are obviously paid for the organization.
We do hope that you will participate, send us your cartoons and come to Saint Just le Martel, and we are looking forward to see you or hear you by phone.
Friendly thoughts to all of you

Amasya Municipality the 9th International Cartoon Drawing Contest 2018, Turkey
SUBJECT: WATERLESS LIFE
In our 2018 competition, the subject was designated as "WATERLESS LIFE".
Water, the source of life, has been considered holy since ancient times. Water represents power and is the mos tperfect healer we can find. It is an indispensable source of life and a life without it is not possible.
Due to th eimportance and necessity of water for life, mankind has preferred to setle close to the sources of water from ancient times. The love of man to the water has been the most important factor in the shaping of civilizations throughou thistory. With the historical past, the cultural and artistic heritage from this past, the historical buildings, the pearl of Turkey Amasya is an ancientcity where thewater and civilization live together.
Especially during the Late Hittite, Phrygianand Urartu periods, water ponds were brought about by carving step water cisterns and rocks for theimportance given to water. Waterchannels are themos tbeautiful examples why the water is crucial for life, the city's culture, and how important it is. The beautiful rivers dividemanyregions of our beautifu lcountry ,also pass through the middle of many cities of theworld. Venice, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, Moscow are just a few examples.
According to ourbelief, water is crucial not only for life, but also for the purpose of purifying from material and spiritual filth. Because of this, first of all, in order to do worship, it needs to be cleaned, so the courts of the mosques are decorated with fountains, the neighborhoods are decorated with magnificent fountains ,baths and hammams. We understand the importance of the bathing culture, which is as old as the history of mankind, for the Romans from the remnants of baths built of precious marbles made of silver and gold faucets left to our city.
Today, the water scientists seek for life on other planets is indispensable fo rsurvival. Theworld is at times in conflict with the communities that want to reach the water. The main reason for this is globalwarming, rapidpopulationgrowth, environmentalpollutionandwaste. Inagriculturalirrigation; water waste has been avoided by allowing restricted freshwater resources, along with low water applications, to allow proper aquaculture.
We are waiting for you to protect water and water civilization with your caricatures on '' Waterless Life '', which tell us how important it is to all living things for from the past to the future and what a life without water will bring. We wish you the best luck .

Catalog of 4th International Olive Cartoons Contest 2015 of Kyrenia Municipality, Cyprus
Today received the recently published (April 2017) catalog of the 4th International Olive Cartoons Contest 2015 of Kyrenia Municipality, Cyprus. It is 20x21.5x2.5 cm in dimensions and has 240 full color pages plus the covers.
As Nidai Güngördü, the Mayor of Kyrenia Municipality, points out in his foreword, "Although the International Olive Cartoons Contest was interrupted for 4 years, which is a long period of time, owing to the efforts and meetings of the Organising Committee, 224 illustrators attended this year's contest from 56 countries with 459 pieces of artwork. This great success shows us that at the heart of this project, there is an endeavour, a collective collaboration, solemnity and the sense of "union is strength"."
And Musa Kayra, the President of Cypriot-Turkish Cartoonists Association, reminds in his introductory words that "the Olive that is one of the most important products of food culture of Mediterranean countries is our roots, our culture and our future."
This colossal book of cartoon art perfectly covers the short bios plus cartoons or portraits and declarations of the jury members and prize-winners in both Turkish and English languages, snapshots of the jury meeting, the prize-giving ceremony and some touristic scenes from the historical town along with the winning and the many selected cartoons.
The cartoon on the front cover is by the Slovenian artist Radko Oketic and the one on the back belongs to the Turkish cartoonist Cemalettin Güzeloğlu. Possible to see many winning and participating cartoons on the special website of the contest: http://www.zeytinkarikaturleri.com/.

Results of Caneva Ride Contest 2017, Premio Toni Zampol, Italy: In Vino Veritas?
We report that upon the reporting of a large number of people and participants, after appropriate verifications the work that was the winner of Canza Ride 2017 "In Wine Veritas" by Behzad Ghafarizadeh Canada can not be admitted to the competition because it does not respect the regulation as work already winner of another competition and therefore not unpublished.
For this reason, the ranking of the winners is modified as follows:
- Bruno Hamzagic, the brilliant vignettist, has remarkably effective use of color, with a genial combination of technology connectors and natural shadows that make us laugh at taste. The design is also very effective, framing two subjects, certainly not on the cover, but from which a genuine beauty comes out. The aspect that struck the sticker in question is the ability in the synthesis of these elements to reproduce a situation that is contemporary but at the same time ancient, atavistic, and Dionysian. Use the Wine - Fi text to close and complete the image. Connected!
The third prize is not awarded. (Source: facebook).

Second Classified: Konstantin Kazanchev
- Second, but not least noteworthy, is the design by the artist Konstantin Kazanchev that surprises us with a definite theme and solution: our consciousness. Well-made, the illustration suggests the theme of wine as a possible pacifying element of conflicts, difficult decisions, and moral issues to which we all, for good and for evil, have daily to do. To enrich the concept of the man's profile we can perceive is a man with important decisions, with his gut and 'wide' shoulders. Prosit! The third prize is not awarded. (Source: facebook).
