The vice-president Czech Union of Cartoonists, Ivan Hanousek is the editor of the weekly electronic magazine e-GAG that reached number 50 with the recent edition dated 11.12.2008. It is 16 color pages now in Microsoft Word format. There is of course the language barrier, but e-GAG displays several quality cartoons in connection with the news and also puts interesting and informative shots from the national & international events in their republic and some neighbouring countries.

The Museum of Caricature and Cartoon Art in Warsaw is organising a competition for a humouristic/satirical cartoon, which is provisionally entitled "Frederic Chopin’s Smile". The competition, followed by an exhibition will be a part of Frederic Chopin’s 200th anniversary celebrations in 2010. Entries can refer to the composer himself and his work as well as to the social/political situation in your own country or the world generally. Entrants may submit up to five cartoons each, maximum size being A3.
The 35th annual meeting of the Association of Cartoonists in Turkey is held in Istanbul on Saturday, 29 November 2008. According to the regulation, the new yearly executive committee members are elected and once again Metin Peker and his list swept the board having no rivals and receiving little criticism.
