The 8th FICA International Caricature Competition in Africa, Morocco 2025

International Caricature Festival in Africa
8th Edition of the FICA 2025 International Caricature Competition

Theme: SEAS AND OCEANS
Planetary Wealth in Danger
The seas and oceans represent more than 70% of the surface of our blue planet. They are not just vast bodies of water; they constitute an invaluable global resource and the lungs of life. The oceans produce nearly half of the oxygen we breathe, regulate the global climate, are a major source of food and medicine, and are home to unparalleled biodiversity. They are the engine of life and maintain the balance of our planet.
Threats to Blue Wealth
But today, this global resource is under serious threat, threatening its sustainability and survival. Marine pollution, particularly plastic and chemical pollution, is one of the greatest challenges, suffocating marine life and destroying fragile ecosystems. Overfishing also contributes to the depletion of fish stocks faster than they can recover, threatening the extinction of entire marine species. Call to action to preserve our blue treasures.
Protecting the seas and oceans is no longer an option, but an absolute necessity to ensure the future of our planet and the existence of future generations. This requires concerted efforts at the local and international levels, including the adoption of sustainable fishing policies, the fight against pollution in all its forms, and raising awareness of the importance of this blue treasure. Let us all work together to protect our marine treasures before they become mere memories in an endangered sea.
