SUBJECT: THE MUSEUM
In Antiquity, the Musaeum was the Temple of the Muses – patrons of the arts. Since the very beginning of the creation of the museum, it became a center of the cultural and social life of the community, a place where different scientific researches and discoveries were presented. For more than two millennia, the museums have kept the knowledge and traditions, the tangible and intangible treasures, they educate and they are desirable destinations for cultural tourism…
The museums' purpose is to preserve the cultural and historical heritage and successfully pass it forward. They manage to provide something for every taste – for some people, it is a source of knowledge; for others, it is a place for reflection and entertainment or a journey back in time. Over the years, they have become organizations that build up their universal character and language intelligible to everyone – no matter the sex, race, or religion. The museum is a specific communication tool for people from different epochs removing the barriers between them, shortening the distances, breaking and eradicating the stereotypes.
How do caricaturists “see” the museum? Could this heritage treasury be “described” and “characterized” with pencil, pen, or ink? We are looking forward to your answers.

The 45th Italian Lies championship graphics section contest dedicated to Lie 2021, Italy

The Italian Championship of Lies was born in 1966. The reasons that led to the creation of this competition are to be found in the traditions of our little village over the Pistoia’s mountains, on the Italian Apennines, when in last century people used to meet in front of a fireplace to tell stories that mixed reality and fictious. The Italian Lie Academy, in occasion of the 45th Italian Lies championship, declares the graphics section contest dedicated to Lie.

This year theme is:
Happens along the way
Metaphysical or real trip, everything that can happen to move from one place to another.

6. Italian Lie Academy will award the top three as follows: 1st place: "Gold Bugiardino". 2nd: "Silver Bugiardino". 3rd: "Bronze Bugiardino". The Bugiardino is the symbol made in resin of the Championship and is the bell tower of the village with a long nose, like the Pinocchio’s one.

7. All the winning cartoons will be published on the website of the Italian championship of Lies (www.labugia.it).

21st World Press Freedom Canada International Editorial Cartoon Competition 2021

21st World Press Freedom Canada International Editorial Cartoon Competition 2021
1. The theme for the 21st International Editorial Cartoon Competition is:
Censorship, shaming and disinformation on social media
Social media and its algorithms can spare us from being confronted with contrary opinions, creating echo chambers for our own points of views.
The proliferation of disinformation has turned debates into fights where dialogue is no longer possible, and unpopular opinions are shouted down or cancelled out.
It leaves journalists operating in an environment where facts are often subordinated to lies and propaganda spread online.
As the siege on Capitol Hill has demonstrated, moderating social media is no longer a luxury.
2. Three prizes will be awarded: a first prize of $1500 plus a Certificate from the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, a second prize of $750 and a third prize of $500. All sums are in Canadian dollars. Ten additional cartoons will receive an Award of Excellence, which are not remunerated.
