Third International Productivity Cartoon Festival - Iran
Two caricature festivals on productivity have already convened successfully and active participation of artists in depicting non-productivity has taken place. Now the third caricature festival on productivity is on its way. All artists are hereby invited to contribute to the world productivity culture and do their parts on promoting such a social issue and passing it on to the next generation. This year, as past years, world thinkers and scholars working on productivity will delineate the judgment indices as follows:
1. Genuineness of works in innovation and creativity
2. conveyance of productivity concepts and its pedagogical aspect
3. relatedness to scientific and theoretical aspects of productivity (as efficiency and effectiveness)
4. skill and techniques employed.
Submitted works will fall under the two following categories:
A) critiques on current situation
B) directive works recommending wise solutions.
The latter, which deals with solutions, has a specific privilege over the first one.

Regulations:
A maximum of 3 works.
Only original art works are accepted (computer based copies are also acceptable, provided that the prints are signed by the cartoonist. The computer version should be in TIFF format with 300-DPI resolution on a CD, and sent along with the print out.)
NO photocopies or photographs will be accepted.
The size of the works should be A4 or A3.
There is no limit as for the techniques employed for cartoons.
Art works must be submitted along with a completed application form, a passport size photo and the CV of the artist.
The participating cartoons will not be returned.
The organizers will do their best to protect all submitted cartoons from any probable damage, but takes no responsibility of the damages.
Secretariat of the festival reserves the right to publish and showcase the submitted cartoons.
The published catalogue of the festival will be sent to all whose works are published. Therefore, apply care in printing your address and contact information in the application form.
Signing the form means the artist has accepted all regulations of the festival.

13th PortoCartoon World Festival 2011 - Portugal
General Rules and Regulations
1.An invisible and slow revolution is happening in the world. The epicentre of this revolution lies in communication and technologies. Therefore, after twelve themes of great international impact, the theme of COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGIES is the chosen one for the 13th PortoCartoon.
Communication and Technologies penetrate so much in the everyday world that become almost equivalent to the air we breathe. Or the electricity we can not do without. They are goods we need most, and their roots are in the social essence. Despite that, they express and cause social differences, conflicts, discrimination, censorship, myths, loneliness, inequality, war, etc..
With the further development in this 21st century, will we have a world more fairly and balanced? Or will we have a more demonic, less communicative and more asymmetrical world?
In addition to participating with cartoons on the main theme, the cartoonists can also send works for the FREE CATEGORY, as per the previous editions.
2. The artists who do not wish to compete can send their works to the EXTRA-COMPETITION section informing of this decision.
3.1. Works must be originals and any kind of graphical technique will be accepted, including digital artwork, sent by Internet, if the prints are SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR and if they are indicated as PRINT NUMBER ONE, or a original to this contest.
3.2. Can also be presented sculptures pieces of humour, in any kind of material.
4. The works can have at the maximum the following measures:
- in paper, 42 x 30 cm (DIN A3);
- sculpture pieces, 42 x 30 x 30 cm.
5. The works should present on the reverse the following information: author´s name and address, title, theme section and year. The author’s CV in Portuguese or English (publications, exhibitions, prizes…) should also be sent.
6. The works should arrive at the PORTUGUESE PRINTING PRESS MUSEUM until February 27th 2011 (EXTENDED UNTIL 28 MARCH 2011), with the entry form.
7. The works should be sent to:

8. The participation in PORTOCARTOON means automatically that the author is waving copyrights of his works in any kind of support, concerning the production and diffusion of the festival.
9. The AWARDS, including a TROPHY and a DIPLOMA, will be the following:
GRAND PRIZE PORTOCARTOON 7000 Euro (half in money and half in Port wine), travel and stay costs for the Awards Ceremony in Portugal
2ND PRIZE PORTOCARTOON 2500 Euro (half in money and half in Port wine), travel and stay costs for the Awards Ceremony in Portugal
3RD PRIZE PORTOCARTOON 1500 Euro (half in money and half in Port wine), travel and stay costs for the Awards Ceremony in Portugal
HONORABLE MENTIONS PORTOCARTOON 50 Euro, stay costs for a weekend in Portugal
10. The Jury will have an odd number of judges and their decision will be final with no subjection to any kind of appeal or reclamation.

11. The awarded works will become property of the PORTUGUESE PRINTING PRESS MUSEUM and will be part of the INTERNATIONAL CARTOON GALLERY.
The others will be sent to the artists, if formally requested, after its public exhibition during the PORTOCARTOON and possible exhibition in other cities and countries.
12. In case of using non-awarded works in other cases except PORTOCARTOON exhibition or its promotion, copyright payment will be made to the artists whenever it takes place.
13. All the artists whose works are selected for the exhibition will receive a catalogue.
14. The prizes will be delivered in a public ceremony.

Theme: “Global Financial Crisis
3 -18 December
at the Progressive Club Hall of Hymettos

Rules:
The cartoons will be black and white or color.
Up to 3 projects, size A4 or A3, per participant.
Drawings must be using JPEG file at 300 dpi.
We prefer drawings with no text but if a drawing has text, this text must be written in English or in Greek.
The original drawings will be returned to their authors after the 01-01-2011.
Projects will be evaluated by The Artistic Committee.
Must be accompanied by brief bio of the artist.
The drawings that participate to the exhibition will be exhibited in Greece and abroad after the main exhibition.
The artist's participation implies accepting the rules above
and the submission of respective author's rights, only to be used
to promote and inform about the event as well as the edition of
the catalogue and the itinerary exhibition. As there is no profit
involved in these procedures, no payment will be made to any
of the participants.

17th Ricardo Rendon International Cartoon Festival 2010

17th RENDON INTERNATIONAL CARTOON FESTIVAL 2010 - COLOMBIA
RICARDO RENDÓN: The Outstanding Colombian caricaturist born in Rionegro-Antioquia (1894-1931), called "The Emperor" of the Cartoon. One of the most penetrating and fine Latin American humorists in the XX century, in whose work the humor was satire, it was characterized especially by the political cartoon. His cartoons were true x-rays of the facts and of the individuals. He was pioneer of the graphic publicity in Colombia.
The Conditions :
1) The contest is open to all cartoonists all over the world.
2) The deadline for entries is October 30, 2010.
3) The themes of the competition are Three:
Theme 1. DEPENDENCE, (The situation of dependency as a person can not be used for political purposes.The political concept of Dependence is opposed to that of Independence.
Dependence Emotional, Economic, Psychological dependence and everything what relates him).

Theme 2. PERSONALITIE General Josè Marìa CÓRDOVA, Illustrious of the Independence Acquaintance as the " Heroe of Ayacucho ", was the general antioqueño more emphasized during the period of Independence. (See biography and images http://www.cartoonrendon.com/),
And theme 3. FREE.
4) Each participant can present in the competition a maximum of Three cartoons for theme.
5) You can participate with cartoons in white and black or in color.
6) The size of cartoons will not exceed 30 x 40 cms maximum.
7) You can also participate in the competition with cartoons that have already been published or rewarded previously, all the presented cartoons will be original. Photographs, photocopies etc, will not be accepted, and the transport of the cartoons in charge of the participant.
8) Participants are requested to send, together with their cartoons, a short curriculum vitae and a photograph.
9) In the reverse of each cartoon he/she should go the name, surname, address, telephone number and country of origin of the participant.
10) The selected Caricaturist will receive free a catalogue.
11) The jury composed of Colombian and foreign cartoonists.
12) The results will be announced in the month of December of 2010.
13) The cartoons presented in the competition won't be returned.
14) By filling in the entrance form attached, the participant declares and accepts in advance that (s)he has turned over the financial rights (s)he holds over the cartoon or cartoons vis-à-vis the public to Cartoonrendon without limitation on location, time period and number the intellectual property all rights for publication. (S)he agrees that Cartoonrendon may use such cartoons, exhibit them, keep them in its archives and publish them on the internet or through other media.
15) The organization is reserved the right of exhibiting those works that he/she understands they can attempt against individual or collective rights.
16) The Participation in the competition supposes the entire acceptance and without reservations all the conditions.

International Exhibition, Cyprus: "Naci Talat" Portrait Cartoons

INTERNATIONAL “NACI TALAT” PORTRAIT CARTOON EXHIBITION (CYPRUS)
THEME: “Naci Talat Portrait Cartoons...”
NACI TALAT BIOGRAPHY:
He was born on March 10, 1945 in Buyukkonuk Village in Magusa. After completing his primary and secondary education in Nicosia, in 1962 he went to University of Ankara Law School. He married Vesile Usar in 1969 and had a daughter and a son. He then graduated from Law School in 1971. He was fluent in English and Greek and while he was a student, he took part in various positions in student organizations. He was the first president of the Cypriot Turkish National Student Federation.
When he was elected as a deputy of the Congress in June 1976, he took a break from his job as a lawyer which he started in 1972. He was a representative of Cumhuriyetci Turk Partisi in the Founding Assembly of KTFD (Turkish Federative State of Cyprus) in 1975 and (Northern Cyprus Parlementer Assembly) in 1983. Without any breaks, he was re-elected as a deputy after the June 1981 and June 1985 elections. After the May 1990 election, even though he was elected as a deputy, he boycotted the anti-democratic practices and did not join the Congress.
Between 1972 and 1991, Naci Talat was the Secretary General of Cumhuriyetci Turk Partisi, and he dedicated his life for the peace and democracy struggle of the Cypriot Turkish Community.
This legendary leader, who was one of the most important politicians that guided Cypriot Turkish political life, said his goodbyes to the struggle and the people who loved him, on June 26, 1991 in London.
Even though years have passed since he passed away, Naci Talat's thoughts, voice, and image still continue to affect tens of thousands of people.
