Rules for press and humorous drawing competition
ARTICLE 1 : Organiser, association 49+ la BD Francophone, head office 91,rue d’Austerlitz 59200 Tourcoing, France, is the organiser of a press and humorous drawing competition open to anyone, amateurs and professionals. This production must obligatorily have one of these topics: "Censure" or "Politically correct
ARTICLE 2 : Competition criteria : Support : use A4 format ( 21 x 29.7 cm). The technical methods used by the cartoonist are totally free, French/English text. The original drawing must be sent in the following form : the drawing must not be folded, and a short biography must be attached to the drawing. Cartoonists who are minors must attach permission to participate and authorisation for publication from parents or legal guardians in favour of Francine COPPENS, Association 49+ la B.D. Francophone, 25 rue du General Marchand F – 59200 TOURCOING
This authorisation from parents or legal guardians must contain surname, first name, address, telephone number, and E-Mail of legal representative.
ARTICLE 3 : Stages in the competition : The competition begins on 15th August 2008. Francine COPPENS, association 49+ la BD Francophone, 25 rue du General Marchand F – 59200 TOURCOING - FRANCE, must receive drawings entered by participants no later than the 31 August 2008
ARTICLE 4 : Participants : Present: Public concerned: draughtsmen amateurs or professionals. Are not authorized to take part in the contest: members of the board of directors of association 49+ the French-speaking data base, the jury like their close relations.
ARTICLE 5 : Registration : For all entrants, each entry must contain : surname, first name, address, post code, town or city, country, telephone number, E-mail, a short biography, and parental authorisation for minors.
ARTICLE 6 : Criteria of admissibility : The criteria of admissibility are : respecting the theme – originality of the idea submitted – the humour and quality of the drawing. Work considered outside the subject will be disqualified, as will drawings of defamatory and/or racist characters, or characters likely to damage the physical and moral integrity of others. Entrants must also be aware of all these rules, and respect all the instructions.
ARTICLE 7 : Terms and Conditions : Entrants of age and legal representatives of entrants who are minors undertake to give all performance rights and rights of reproduction on all types of communication support for written or web based diffusion to the organisers of the competition. From the very fact of their participation, the authors guarantee the organisers and members of the jury against any action, petition, or appeal by third parties concerning the originality of work presented.
Participation in the competition implies acceptance of the present rules. Only one entry per amateur or professional cartoonist is allowed. Drawings will not be returned.
In accordance with the French Data Protection Act, entrants have right of access and amendment.
The association 49+ la BD Francophone, it representatives, members, and organisers cannot be held responsible for lost, damaged, or illegal entries.
ARTICLE 8 : The jury : will be composed of 7 people, professional press illustrators and humorous cartoonists, members of association 49+ la BD Francophone, journalists who write for the press, and press attachés. The jury will meet to deliberate before september 10th. There is no appeal against decisions taken by the jury.
ARTICLE 9 : Competition prizes :
The 50 preselected drawings will illustrate the catalogue of the international cartoonist 2006 competition.
Three prizes will be awarded :
1st prize : Prix de la Ville de Tourcoing (Town of Tourcoing prize), the winner will receive : Crayon en Nord trophy (Pencil in the North trophy) and the sum of € 750 (seven hundred and fifty Euro).
2nd prize : Prix du Public ; the winner will receive : Crayon en Nord trophy and the sum of € 500 (five hundred Euro).
3rd prize : Prix de l’Association 49+ la BD Francophone ; the winner will receive : Crayon en Nord trophy and the sum of € 350 (three hundred and fifty Euro).
These people will be informed of the results by post or E-mail, and after its editing, each person will receive a catalogue.
Winners will receive their catalogue at the address submitted on their entry form.
The three winners will be contacted by the association 49+ la BD Francophone in order to obtain relevant bank details for the transfer of the prize monies.

Results of 28th International Nasreddin Hodja Cartoon Contest - TurkeyThe jury members of 28th International Nasreddin Hodja Cartoon Contest met at Istanbul Cartoon and Humour Museum on 8th August, 2008.

The 18th Daejeon International Cartoon Contest (DICACO 2009)
The Daejeon City is inviting world cartoonists to take part in DICACO 2009 (the 18th Daejeon International Cartoon Contest).
1. This year’s contest comprises a Thema section (titled Customs / Costume) and a Free section.
2. The size of works should be smaller than 297 mm×420 mm.
3. Any color, free style, and unlimited items.(+3 Works)

1. THE PORTRAIT CARICATURE "ZIKISON" WITHOUT WORDS. How do caricaturists imagine "Žikišon" and his life time?
2. THE CARICATURE WITHOUT WORDS – FREE FORM. For both of categories you can send up to 3 works on A/4 size of paper, up to 200 KB by E-mail, any technique is allowed.
3. THE SHORT ALTERNATIVE COMIC STRIP – FREE FORM. A board needs to content up to 6 squares, A/3 format, up 400 KB by E-mail, any technique is allowed, up to 3 boards in a work or 3 boards of a single strip.
The competition will be opened and free for all of the professionals and amateurs, for affirmed and unknown authors from 7 to 77 years of age, for all people on this planet but in the case if someone appears from other planet then we will become the first interplanetar competition.

Soon after that torture and seizing his property, he was died in 1950.

Any kind of graphical technique will be accepted, including digital artwork if they are signed and if the print is number one (manual numbered).

II International Festival of Graphic Humor in Granada

II International Festival of Graphic Humor in Granada October 24, 25 and 26, 2008
During the Festival, the exhibition “Granada – Semana Santa Internacional” wil take place, and a catalogue will be published including a selection of works. This event is supported by the City Council of Granada, the County Council, and the University of Granada.
1 – The call is open to profesional and amateur graphic humorists and cartoonists from all over the world.
2 – Subject of the 2nd Festival: “Holy Week in Granada” (La Semana Santa de Granada). More information about the subject in the website http://www.creatorio.com/
3 – The participants are permitted to submit to the Festival only 3 works. The format of the works must be A4 horizontal (297 mm width x 210 mm height). Any technique will be accepted.
Mute cartoons will be preferred. Nevertheless, any language will be accepted if a suitable translation to Spanish or English is included.
4 – The works should be scanned and sent by e-mail in 300 ppp, JPEG format, to granada@martinfavelis.com, accompanied by a portrait or caricature of the author (same resolution and format).
5 -The e-mail must include an entry form containing the following information:
Author’s name and family name
Artistic name
Address, town, country and postal code
E-mail address and phone numbers
CV mentioning the author’s publications and/or the newspaper, magazine, etc. where they usually publish their works.
6 – The selected works will be showed in an exhibition in “Centro Municipal de Arte Joven Rey Chico”.
They may be also showed as a roaming exhibition in other national and international events related to Granada’s Turistic Department.

7 – The selected works will be printed in a catalogue. All authors whose works are selected to appear in the exhibition will receive a copy of the catalogue.

The authors will also be informed about the location of the exhibitions where their works are shown.
9 - Deadline: September 14th, 2008.
10 - The submission of the entry form will automatically imply the waiving of the author’s royalties vis-à-vis the non-commercial reproduction of his/her work by the City Council of Granada.
11 – The participation in the 2nd Festival of Graphic Humor in Granada implies the author fully accepts these regulations.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The competition is designed to recognise the best of Australian and International cartoons with prizes totalling over $10,000. The Rotary Cartoon Awards are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City to raise funds for various Rotary charities and to promote cartooning through the Bunker Cartoon Gallery. All entries will be donated to the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City for exhibitions at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery and other galleries in Australia. They will become part of the Coffs Cartoon Collection. RULES & ENTRY CONDITIONS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
1. The Rotary Cartoon Awards are open to anyone over the age of 18.
2. No captions are permitted in this section.
3. Identification of the subject must appear on reverse of the work, written in pencil, in the top left hand corner.
4. All cartoons submitted must be clearly labelled with the artist’s name, address, telephone number and email address written on the reverse of the work, in pencil, beneath the subject’s name, in the top left hand corner. This makes for easy identification of subject and artist and does not mar the work for exhibition.
3. There are no restrictions on the number of entries submitted and entries may have been published or be unpublished.
5. Cartoons must be originals and may be either colour or black and white. Suggested size of cartoon entries is A4 (210mm x 297mm) but oversized entries will be accepted.
6. Please do not frame entries.
7. Entry to the awards will be taken as an agreement to accept the rules and entry conditions.

The Grand Jury of 28th International Nasreddin Hodja Cartoon Contest meets on August 7, 2008 The Grand Jury of 28th International Nasreddin Hodja will meet at Istanbul Cartoon & Humour Museum on August 7, 2008.
The entries for the contest will be accepted if they arrive at the competition address until 17.00 hours on August 4, 2008 at the latest.
The Grand Jury consists of 7 members from Turkey, namely, Turhan Selcuk, Tonguc Yasar, Metin Peker, Kadir Dogruer, Muhittin Koroglu, Gurbuz Dogan Eksioglu, all cartoonists, and Nazan Erkmen, Dean of Fine Arts Faculty, Marmara University, Istanbul. The foreign members of the Grand Jury are Tomas Rodriguez Zayas (Cuba), Leng Mu (China), Paolo Dalponte (Italy), Luiz Carlos Fernandes (Brazil), all cartoonists, and Cheong San Lim, cartoonist and President of Daejeon Cartoon Institute (South Korea).

TV ETHNOS CARTOON AWARD 2008 - Greece
The first cartoon competition is held in Athens by the "TV Ethnos" magazine of the Editorial group Pegasus. The annual competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.
1. Topic: TV and Culture.
2. Techniques: No limits.
3. Original works and signed prints in the case of digital works are accepted.
4. Digital works can be sent electronically to the e-mail cartoonaward@pegasus.gr with the following specifications: Minimum analysis 300 dpi / RGB / JPG. Maximum size up to 5 MB per e-mail.
5. The works will be sent until 30 September 2008 at the latest, to the following address:

6. The minimum size of works is A4 (210 x 297mm). The maximum size is A3 (297 x420 mm) and should be sent without a frame. Each artist / cartoonist may submit up to three works.

In addition there will be three special prizes.
8. Works that have been awarded in previous competitions will not be accepted.
9. The foundation will not be responsible for damage that may occur during postage and handling.

13. The foundation will cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the first three prize-winning cartoonists for the award ceremony in Athens.
14. The award-winning cartoons will not be returned to artists while the cartoons, which do not win awards, will be returned to the artists upon written request.
15. A competition catalogue will be published. The participant artists will receive a copy of the catalogue.
16. The award ceremony and exhibition of selected cartoons by the committee will be held in December 2008 in Athens.
17. Following the announcement of the results of the illustrations will be posted on the site of the organizers.
18. After the announcement of the winners, there will be a period of 15 days for filling complaints or objections against the award-winning works for similarities or awards in previous competitions. Complaints will be submitted to the e-mail: cartoonaward@pegasus.gr with the necessary evidence.
19. After examining the complaints the final results will be announced and are nonnegotiable.
20. The selected works will be exhibited at http://www.tvethnoscartoonaward.gr/ and may be used for promotional purposes, printed or electronically or otherwise, and permit third parties to reproduce them for promotional purposes of the exhibition and used without any monetary or otherwise compensation.
21. By entering works to the competition the participant automatically agrees to the terms and conditions of Participation. It is expressly referred to the fact that the author thereby also agrees to the exhibition of his/her works and their reproduction in the Competition Catalogue.

1ST INTERNATIONAL “OLIVE” CARTOON CONTEST 2008

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
1-This contest and exhibition is open to all professional and amateur cartoonists of any nationality, religion, and background…
2-Subjects-Topics: Cartoons against destroying the olive trees, olive, olive industry, olive oil, olive branch, olive tree, cutting olive trees, benefit from olive, etc...
3-The minimum and maximum sizes of each cartoon to be submitted must be A4 and A3. Cartoons can be drawn in any colour… There shall be no frame nor any bandages around the cartoons…
4-The cartoons must be original... Photocopies and technically produced (from the computer) cartoons will not be evaluated. This type of cartoons will only be exhibited or will be put in the albume if approved by the selection committee...
5-The cartoons submitted to the contest which will be pre-elected will be put and exhibited on a web page for the attention and objection of international cartoon associations to overcome copying and steeling… Any cartoon which is copied, stolen or awarded in other cartoon contest will be disqualified…
6-All participants are allowed to submit maximum two cartoons… Name, surname, address, e-mail and telephone numbers of the participants must be written at the back of each cartoon… A short resume and photograph must also be attached…
7-All the cartoons must reach to the specified addresss till 30 August 2008… The cartoonists themselves will be responsible from all losses, delays and damages…
8-Being publicated or not is not important for the cartoons… The important thing is that they should not be awarded in any contest…
9-All cartoons eligible for an award or not shall not be returned and shall be stored in archive of the "Cyprus International Catoon Museum."
10-Besides those cartoons which will be awarded, all the cartoons approved by the selection committee will be pubicated in an album and exhibited in Zeytinlik Village at 5-10 October 2008 during the “7th International Olive Festival”.
11-The result of the contest will be announced in local newspapers… The transfer and accomodation expenses of the cartoonists who will win the first three awards will be paid by the Municipality of Kyrenia… Only the accomodation expenses of the cartoonists who will win particular/distinctive awards will be paid by the Municipality Of Kyrenia…
