International Construction Accidents Cartoon Contest 2011, Turkey

The Subject of the Contest: Job Accidents in the Construction Industry
The Aim of the Contest
: The construction industry is known as one of the most hazardous industries. One of the main problems of the construction industry is job site accidents: accidents causing crew death and major injuries. Accident rates in this industry are one of the highest across all over the industries. Besides causing human tragedy and economic losses, construction accidents also affect the productivity and reputation of the construction industry. The aim of this contest is to focus on the construction accidents through cartoons and increase the safety awareness in this industry.
1. The competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.
2. The cartoons that focus on the subject of construction accidents can be prepared by any technique and with any color. Cartoons should be prepared either in A4 (210mm x 297mm) or A3 (297mmX420mm) paper dimensions.
3. Caricatures prepared in digital format can also participate in this contest, however printouts signed by the cartoonists should be sent for the competition.
4. Caricaturists can participate in this contest with a maximum of 3 cartoons.
5. Name, surname, birth date, postal adress, phone number and e-mail adress should be written on the reverse side of each cartoon.
6. The cartoonists are free to participate with already published works as long as these works have not previously been awarded in any other contest.
7. The works must reach the organizing association not later than 30 April 2011 and the address of “Anadolu Universitesi Insaat Muhendisligi Bolumu, 2 Eylul Kampusu, Eskisehir,Turkey”. The organizing association will not be responsible for the postal delays.
8. Awards:
First Prize ( 1000 US Dollars )
Second Prize ( 750 US Dollars )
Third Prize ( 500 US Dollars )
5 Honour Prizes ( Honour Certificate ).

12. Cartoons will not be returned to the artists. Once sent the works belong to the organizing committee. It can be published, distributed or used for promotional purpose in future. The cartoons may be used for promotional purposes: cards,posters, catalogs, newspapers, magazine and books etc.
13. Participants are considered to have accepted all these conditions.

Sad news: Greek cartoonist Athanasios Efthimiadis dies today

ATHANASIOS EFTHIMIADIS DIES TODAY, 23 DECEMBER 2010
FECO Greece-Levadia President Yiannis Geroulias gives the sad info that the well-known Greek comic artist and Vice President of FECO Greece-Levadia, Efthimiadis Athanasios died today.
Athanasios Efthimiadis was born in Istanbul in 1944. In 1968 he graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Civil Engineering. Living in Athens since 1976, he was married with two children. He could speak Greek, Turkish, English, French and was fluent in Albanian as well.
Athanasios Efthimiadis was interested in cartoon art in the early years but towards the middle of the 1990s began to draw cartoons. He began to participate in international competitions in 2000 and has achieved many successes then. Athanasios Efthimiadis retired in 2006 from the institution "the PPC of Greece" where he had worked as an engineer, and devoted himself entirely to cartoon art. He has won a total of 38 awards in international cartoon competitions so far and was also a member of selection committees. He was one of the artists whose biographies and selection of works were included in the "20th Century World Dictionary of Contemporary Graphic Humorists", published by the "Academy of Humor" in Spain. Some of his works are collected in the "Museum of Graphic Humor EU". He had published his cartoons in "A Cartoon Approach".

International Festival of aphorism & caricature - Strumica 2011

Aphorism:In this category each author can participate with maximum of 10 aphorisms, printed in three copies, completed with code and particulars about the author, and set in sealed envelope.
The authors are allowed to participate with more works, each as group of 10(ten) aphorisms and marked with particular code.
Caricature:In this category, the authors can participate and send 3 caricatures, maximum.
The technique is on their own choice, and dimensions A/4.
Particulars about the authors should be written at the back side of the work.
Contest due date:
The works will be accepted up to: February 05, 2011, at latest.
Awards:Three main prizes will be awarded: Golden, Silver and Bronze Plaque.
The Organizer retains the right to award some additional prizes.

Under auspices of the Syrian Ministry of Information Syria Cartoon website presents:

Regulations:
• Theme 1: Plastic Surgery
• Theme 2: Free (Humour)
• Only 1 cartoon, A4, 300 dpi, JPG/JPEG and free techniques.
• Deadline: 20 / 2 / 2011
• Prizes: Golden, Silver, Bronze and 5 Special Prizes.
• Only cartoons which will be selected for the exhibition, will receive certificate and the contest album.
• Jury members will be considered as participants in the exhibition and represent their own countries. Their names will be automatically added to the List of Participants. They will participate only in exhibition, not in contest (just honorary participation).
• Cartoons can be used for any promotion purposes (printing, websites, posters, invitation cards....etc) without the permission of the artist and without any payment.
• Cartoons with sexual or nudity contents will not enter the contest.

17th International Cartoon Humour Competition on the Topic of Beer: Golden Keg 2011

17th International Cartoon Humour Competition on the Topic of BEER: GOLDEN KEG 2011 - SlovakiaOn Friday, 1st April 2011, an exhibition of the best competing works, a festive announcement of the results and the handing of prizes to the most successful authors of the 17th competition in accordance with the Jury’s decision will take place as follows:
GRAND PRIZE (Grand Prix) Golden Keg and 500 €
1st Prize Small GOLDEN KEG and 200 €
2nd Prize Small GOLDEN KEG and 150 €
3rd Prize Small Golden KEG and 100 €
The Competition Jury reserves the right not to grant any of the prizes or to grant other special prizes.
The organisers will accept for the competition all works that will be delivered at the address of the Šarišská gallery in Prešov by 21st February 2011.
The organisers of the competition reserve the right to publish selected works in promotional materials and to re-install the exhibition, while each competitor will receive a competition catalogue.
Competition rules:1. Each author can send at maximum five original works, including graphic techniques.
2. The competition is open to anybody and everybody, and it is not restricted in terms of artistic design methods.
3. The formats of the works should not exceed the A4 dimensions.
4. The competition is non-anonymous. Each work should be signed on the reverse and bear the author's full address.
5. The rewarded works will become property of the BEER GALLERY in Prešov.
