SPECIFICATIONS 

FAMILY

We will organize Denizli Metropolitan Municipality 2. International Cartoon Contest by organizing our cartoon contest, which we have held on a national scale for the first three years, internationally this year as well as last year. 

We’ve decided the topic of the contest as Family. 

The family is a structure that the opposite sexes found with a formal contract by coming together. In other words, it is the smallest community consisting of the man and the woman who are connected by marriage and also their child (or children) who is (are) born in consequence of this marriage by blood relation. 

In addition to the relationships among family members, their relationships with the society and environment they live in are also important. Since families are the basic structures that form the society, the durability of the family structure is also very crucial for the society. 

The family is the cornerstone of societies. Although the family has an important place in every society, its importance in Turkish culture is quite different. In the traditional family structure, there are grandmothers and grandfathers as well as mothers, fathers and children. 

As family and society are connected with each other, the relations between the mother and the father, the relations of the parents with the children and the outcomes arising from these relations become directly related to the society. So, when we analyze the family, we see the reflection of many concenpts such as education, training, sadness, happiness, birth, death, bitter and sweet events, relationships between husband and wife, marriage, divorce, trust, distrust, sharing, cooperation, love, affection, urban life, social relations, etc. 

 In 2012, our municipality was awarded the first place with ‘I Love My Family’ project in the project competition in which 127 municipalities from all over Turkey participated. Within the scope of our project: ‘I Love My Family’- the first project in Denizli about this theme- we have carried out many successful projects from healthy marriage school to pregnancy school, from family refereeing to training seminars and conferences, from family counseling centers to free sports courses. 

This time, we want to bring up the concept of the family and its importance with your valuable interpretations as master cartoonists. We desire to release the positive reflections of being a family and the negative reflections of not being a family to the public with your comments, thereby we wish to contribute to the awareness of people.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:

1. The topic of the contest: Family 

2.Deadline: Cartoons must be uploaded on www.denizli.bel.tr/karikaturyarismasiEN/ (official municipality website) until 12.00 (a.m) on 20 March 2022, Sunday (EXTENDED:) 23 March 2022, Wednesday. 

3.The contest is open to amateur and professional cartoonists all over the world. 

4. It is not required that the cartoons which will be sent to the contest have been published or not in previous contests. However, the cartoons you will send must not have been awarded in another contest before. Cartoons that the selection committee (jury) deems the same or similar or the ones specified as another cartoonist’s belonging by the committee will not be evaluated. 

5.You can participate in the contest with maximum three cartoons. 

6. Cartoonists will send their cartoons digitally to our contest. Every cartoon must be in A4 size, between 150-300 dpi, JPEG format and minumum 1 MB maximum 10 MB capacity. 

7. Some cartoons which will be choosen from among the received cartoons by the jury will be collected in a cartoon album. The works of cartoon deemed worthy to be exhibited will also be displayed whenever and whereever Denizli Metropolitan Municipality deems suitable. No fee will be paid for the works of cartoon choosen by the jury for the exhibition and the album. 

8. One-night accommodation and meal expenses of the winners of the cartoon contest will be provided by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality.

The Calendar of Contest: 

A.The deadline of application for the contest is 20 March (EXTENDED:) 23 March 2022, 12.00 (a.m) on Wednesday. 

B.The evaluation meeting of the jury will be conducted on 26 March 2022 (on Saturday) and 27 March 2022 (on Sunday). 

Announcement of the results: The results will be announced on the official websites of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality "https://www.denizli.bel.tr" and "eng.denizli.bel.tr" on 30 March 2022 (on Wednesday). 

Prize-giving Ceremony: Prize-giving ceremony and exhibition will be organized in Turan Bahadır Exhibition Hall on 13 May 2022 (on Friday). (The date and the location of the prize-giving ceremony and the exhibition can be changed by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality.) 

No matter cartoons get reward or not, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality will become right owner to use all cartoons providing that participants’ names are clearly mentioned, in accordance with the law No.5846. 

The participants will have accepted that the rights of use their works will be transferred to Denizli Metropolitan Municipality free of charge to be used in all activities, promotions, events and trainings of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality. 

In addition, The Municipality has rights of use their works for providing materials such as poster, catalogue, brochure, gifted book and etc. and publishing in the media. 

Furthermore, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality has also the rights of use their works to reproduce, disseminate, distribute and demonstrate. 

The works of the participant, which received or did not receive an award, can be used in print media, radio and television and also other mass media in accordance with the purposes of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, from the moment of the delivery. 

Moreover, participants accept and undertake that Denizli Metropolitan Municipality takes over the rights of use the their works by means of broadcasts on the internet, brochures, catalogues, agendas, posters, CDs, DVDs and each digital media or calendars. 

The participant declares that the work sent to the contest belongs entirely to herself/himself. Due to this work, the participant undertakes that she/he is the sole and absolute addressee of the requests of third parties that may arise from Law No:5846 (Intellectual and Artistic Works) and other laws. Besides, the participant also accepts that the legal and criminal responsibility for the work belongs entirely to himself/herself. In addition, the participant undertakes that Denizli Metropolitan Municipality does not have any legal and criminal liability regarding the matters forementioned (the right of recourse to the owner of the work is reserved). 

The right of the works belongs to Denizli Metropolitan Municipality as the organizing institution of the contest and the owner of the work. 

Participants are deemed to have already accepted the terms & conditions of the contest and jury decisions. If disagreements between Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and contestant arise in regards to undefined matters in the agreement or in case of doubt, the selection committee (jury) will arbitrate between both sides. In case of disagreement, this commitee will be authorized.

FINAL CONDITIONS: 

1. Accomodation and meal expenses of participants both living outside Denizli and getting award in the contest will be provided by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality. 

2. Accomodation and meal expenses of awarded minor and his/her only one parent will be provided by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality. 

3. Transportation and accomodation expenses of the jury members who will attend to prize-giving ceremony will be provided by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality. 

4. The prizes of the awarded participants will be sent to their addresses, if they can’t attend the prize-giving ceremony. Their prize money will be transffered to their bank account. If a right owner getting prize money doesn’t share IBAN informations, his/her prize money right will prescribe after one year later from the date of announcing the results. If the condition of the prescription happens, the right owner can’t claim any right about reward, copyright, etc. (Transfer fees will be deducted from the net fee paid to the contestants.) 

5. Some works which will be chosen by the jury as deemed worthy to be exhibited will be collected in a digital album by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality. This album will be shared on the official website of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality.

On Friday, 1st April 2022, an exhibition of the best competing works, a festive announcement of the results and the handing of prizes to the most successful authors of the 28th competition in accordance with the Jury´s decision will take place as follows:

GRAND PRIZE (Grand Prix) Golden Keg and € 500

• The Jury of the competition reserves the right not to award some of the prizes, to modify the amounts of the financial rewards and/or to award more prizes and/or honorary mentions.

A Turkish Musician BARIŞ MANÇO 

He is an Anatolian musician from Taurus mountains. He spent his formative years in Kozan / Adana / Turkey. The theme is Barış Manço and Kozan, Barış Manço and Japan, Barış Manço and Belgium, Barış Manço and World music, Barış Manço and children, Barış Manço as a musician and any thing relating to him etc. 

3. Conditions of Entry 

a) Artworks should not exceed the dimensions of 30 x 40 cm.

c) Artworks can be black and white or color and can be drawn using any technique.

Who can participate? 

Both professional and non-professional cartoonists above the age of 12 are welcome to participate in this contest.

1 \ Participation 

• Both professional and non-professional cartoonists are welcome to participate in this contest.

2 \ Entries 

Works must be originals.

General Rules and Regulations

1 Main Subject EDUCATION AND GENDER EQUALITY 

Quality Education and Gender Equality are the UN bets to improve the world. 

With these themes, corresponding to the 4th and 5th SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), PortoCartoon calls once again the artists to two fundamental concerns for the future of humanity. 

Education continues to be a factor in the expression of inequalities, with around 260 million children unable to attend school, especially in the southern hemisphere, especially in countries in central Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. This is a drama with great implications for the future of these countries. The UN goal is to access inclusive, quality and equitable education and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030. 

In terms of Gender Equality, the situation is more serious: 2.8 billion women and girls live in countries that do little to eliminate the discrimination they face. 

This will be one of the most lagging global goals, relative to the international commitment (signed by world leaders in 2015) to ‘social development’ by 2030. 

Education and Gender Equality converge in dramas and need answers on a global scale. 

Humor can be a good contribution. And so the challenge is given to the sharpened pencils.

2 SPECIAL AWARDS FOR CARICATURE 

GRETA THUNBERG (2003- ) became known worldwide, after going on strike in front of the Swedish parliament, in 2018, in defense of the climate. She was 15 years old and, with the plaque “School Strike for Climate”, promoted a campaign that had a global effect, inspiring thousands of young people around the world. In December 2018, more than 20,000 students – from the UK to Japan – joined her, going on strike at classes to protest the lack of environmental protection measures. A year later, Greta Thunberg receives the first of three Nobel Peace Prize nominations. She faces powerful leaders, make engaging speeches, unsettle the installed power. “Everything remains the same and everything is blah blah blah,” she said at COP26 (Glasgow, Nov. 2021). 

GAGO COUTINHO (1869-1959) was a Portuguese Navy officer, geographer, historian, mathematician and aviation pioneer. In 1922, he carried out the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic, connecting Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro, together with Sacadura Cabral. With this they earned them international notoriety. In addition to several cartographic works, he developed navigation devices, such as the sextant with an artificial horizon. Known as the “precision astrolabe”, the device was internationally registered as “System Admiral Gago Coutinho”. In 2022, the centenary of this Air Crossing joins the bicentennial of Brazil’s independence. Is there another better opportunity to choose this personality?

3  Cartoonists can submit works for the MAIN THEME and for the FREE CATEGORY, as in the previous editions.

4 Artists who don’t wish to compete can send us their works EXTRA-COMPETITION, informing of their decision.

5.1. Cartoons must be original. We accept any kind of graphical techniques, including digital artwork sent by e-mail, as long as the drawings are SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, are identified as PRINT NUMBER ONE and as an original for this contest. 

5.2. Can also be presented sculptures pieces of humour, in any kind of material.

6 The artworks cannot exceed the following measurements: 

- IN PAPER, 42 x 30 cm (DIN A3); 

- SCULPTURE PIECES, 42 x 30 x 30 cm.

7 Cartoons should be sent with the author’s Resumé, in Portuguese or English (publications, exhibitions, prizes…) and must be identified on the reverse with the following information: 

- Author’s name and address; 

- Year, title and theme section.

8 Entries should arrive at the PORTUGUESE PRINTING PRESS MUSEUM until February 28th 2022 (EXTENDED:) March 07th 2022, along with the filled Entry Form.

The others will be returned to the artists, if formally requested with the entry form, after the exhibitions (during PortoCartoon and others in different cities and countries). 

15 In case of using non-awarded works in other cases except PortoCartoon exhibitions or its promotion, copyright payment will be made to the artists.

16 All the artists whose works are selected for the exhibition will receive a DIGITAL CATALOGUE, that will be sent by e-mail to download. If the artist wants to receive a printed catalogue, he should request it and support the shipment costs. 

17 The winning artists will receive the prizes in June 2022, in a public ceremony.

The Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition is organized every year in Turkey by the Aydın Doğan Foundation. The competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world. 

One cartoon that will be selected among the cartoons that will be sent in the “Empowered Girls, Empowered Futures” category will receive a special award. 

Participation Rules 

1. Participants can select any theme. 

2. Cartoons participating in the competition must be signed. 

3. By completing the participation form, the contestant beforehand declares and accepts that he/she is the author of his/her cartoon(s) to be submitted to the competition; that he/she grants license in form of non-exclusive simple license to Aydın Doğan Foundation without any limitations on location, time period and number including assignment to third parties in relation to the usage rights of financial rights such as processing, duplication, distribution, representation, indication and transmission to the public via audio and/or visual means as defined under the provisions of the Articles 21-25 of the Law No. 5846 on Turkish Intellectual and Artistic Works; and that he/she grants power to use the moral rights to Aydın Doğan Foundation, which are obligatory for the use of the licensed financial rights as set forth in Law No. 5846 on Turkish Intellectual and Artistic Works, and that he/she gives consent to Aydın Doğan Foundation to exhibit such cartoon(s), to keep them in its archives, to duplicate and publish them on the Internet or through other media and to use them in any other way without any limitations. 

4. Where the cartoon(s) to be submitted to the competition wins a rank and/or a prize; the contestant beforehand declares and accepts that he/she is the author of his/her rank and/or prize-winning cartoon(s) and that he/she transfers ownership of the cartoon, submitted to the competition, to Aydın Doğan Foundation; that he/she transfers the financial rights such as processing, duplication, distribution, representation, indication and transmission to the public via audio and/or visual means he/she holds over the cartoon(s) to Aydın Doğan Foundation without any limitations on location, time period and number including assignment to third parties under the provisions of the Articles 21-25 of the Law No. 5846 on Turkish Intellectual and Artistic Work; and that he/she grants power to use the moral rights to Aydın Doğan Foundation, which are obligatory for the use of the licensed financial rights as set forth in Law No. 5846 on Turkish Intellectual and Artistic Works; that he/she gives consent to Aydın Doğan Foundation to exhibit such cartoon(s), to keep them in its archives, to publish them on the Internet or through other media and to use them in any other way without any limitations; that he/she does not have any right of disposition over the financial rights subject to transfer and thus will not enter into any transactions with third parties in relation to transferred financial rights. 

5. The Participant hereby accepts and declares that the cartoon submitted for the competition is an original work, and that there is no right arising from Law No. 5846 on Turkish Intellectual and Artistic Works on the cartoon belonging to any third party and if any, that permission is obtained with regards to such rights, and in case a third party claims a right on the cartoon submitted and Aydın Doğan Foundation is obliged to pay any compensation or any other amount under whatsoever name due to the use of such cartoon, that he/she will pay 2 times of this amount to Aydın Doğan Foundation as a penal clause, and also that the award given to the participant will be taken back. 

6. The Contestant accepts and declares that the information included on the participation form completed for the competition participation will be processed and transferred with communication and competition participation purposes within the framework of the International Cartoon Competition of Aydın Doğan Foundation in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law number 6698; that even if the application fails, the personal data will be kept by Aydın Doğan Foundation for the period of time set forth by the legislation; that the information related to competition participation will be shared with the jury, press and media organs and other relevant parties; that where a prize is won or where cartoon is published, his/her information as being author of such cartoon will be shared with the public; and that he/she is provided with required information in this regard. 

– The Contestant accepts and declares that he/she has been informed before participating in the competition that he/she can learn his/her rights about his/her personal data and possible modifications on processing of this data from www.aydindoganvakfi.org.tr; 

– That where he/she has any request on processing of his/her personal data by Aydın Doğan Foundation, he/she can send such request in written with original signature to the address of Aydın Doğan Vakfı, Burhaniye Mahallesi Kısıklı Cad. No: 65 34676 Üsküdar Istanbul/Turkey; 

– That he/she will provide clear and comprehensible information related to the right he/she requests to use during the application to be made; that he/she will certify his/her identity during the application to prove that the applicant is the relevant person and will send his/her identification information together with the application; and that it will be required to share also his/her contact information to receive the result of the application; 

And that he/she has been informed about all of the foregoing issues before participating in the competition. 

7. The Foundation will cover travel and accommodation expenses of the first three award-winning competitors for the award ceremony. 

8. Jury members cannot participate in the competition in the year they act as a jury member. 

9. The decision to upload the cartoons, submitted to the competition, on the Virtual Museum belongs to Aydın Doğan Foundation. 

Criterias 

- The cartoons which have been sent to the Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition in previous years, will not be reevaluated for this year’s competition. 

- The uploaded cartoons must be in high resolutions for printing purposes. 

- Jury members cannot participate in the competition in the year they act as a jury member.

You can participate in this competition with 1 entry and max 3 works. 

All three cartoons must be uploaded simultaneously. Cartoons must be signed. 

High resolution jpf, tiff, png (Minimum 150 dpi/maximum 300 dpi printable scanned document, File size maximum 10MB).

The color catalog of The Best Cartoons of Nippon 2021, Japan

Received today the color catalog of the International Cartoon Festival in Saitama 2021, Japan. It was the 31st year of the festival in 2021. I participated in the event with two cartoons of mine, one on the theme KENKOU which means "Health" and the second one of FREE THEME. Works on both themes by 44 Japanese and 50 foreign artists are included in the catalog of the exhibition that took place at Plaza North in November 2021. 

Saitama City is the place where Rakuten Kitazawa - the father of modern cartoon in Japan - spent his later years. The Saitama Municipal Cartoon Art Musem in the home to Kitazawa in his later years hold the Saitama-City Rakuten-Kitazawa Manga Awards competition each year. In 2021 they held the 36th edition and the winning cartoons are included in this collection book of "The Best Cartoons of Nippon" which are also displayed on the museum website here.
The standard A4-sized (21x29.7 cm) catalog of "The Best Cartoons of Nippon 2021" has 108 pages, about 70 of them covering the color and the monochrome cartoons participated in the festival and selected for the catalog. The remaining pages are the lists of the Japanese and the Foreign artists with their personal histories in both English and Japanese. With the help of this perfectly designed book of art, it is possible to compare the style and wit of the native and overseas manga/cartoon artists and enjoy the great humour in their works.
From Turkey are six cartoonists whose cartoons published in the catalog; namely, Erdoğan Başol, Hüsnü Berkalp Üstün, Kamil Yavuz, Kemal Özyurt, Musa Gümüş, and Seyit Saatçi.

It is open to students of all grades and types of schools and to professional artists from all over the world. They are required to submit one or more works developing the themes of peace, tolerance, fight against any form of racism and of defense of human rights.
Each competitor may take part in two ways:

WHEN
Works from each competitor (individual artist, student or class) will be accepted starting from Monday November 29th 2021 at 8.00 am until Thursday March 31st 2022 at 12.00 pm.

EXHIBITION

On each work it is necessary to indicate full name, name of school and grade/class (if students), telephone and fax number and/or e-mail address, city, country. 

Single students will also have to specify their school address, their age and the class attended. Competitors implicitly authorize the school to reproduce and use their works in the catalogue and in different media for no-profit activities. The organization cannot be held responsible in case of theft, damage or loss of the works. Works will not be returned or retransmitted to their authors. A catalogue will be printed, reproducing a wide selection of the works received after/following up, which later will be sent to competitors free of charge, previous formal request.

The jury of experts in communication, art critics and representatives of the school world will select 6 works among those received within the expiry date, according to their development of proposed themes and their effectiveness.

Theme: Gandhi, an answer to global crisis 

Participation: 

• Both professional and non-professional cartoonists are welcome to participate in this contest. 

• The competition is open to all individuals aged over 12 * (Corrigendum). 

Entries: 

• Works must be originals. All graphic techniques are allowed. 

• Works may be black & white or colored. 

• Each entry should include a covering letter with the cartoonist’s full name,postal address, contact no. and E-Mail ID. 

• Please mention the artist's name and country with the artwork. 

• The digital works have to be sent in JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (2480 x 3543 pixels). 

• The cartoons are to be drawn in A4 format.

REGULATIONS

1. FEATURES AND SCOPE OF THE SALON 

a) The World Press Cartoon comprises three categories: Editorial Cartoon, Caricature and Gag Humour. 

b) Within Editorial Cartoon all works shall be considered that deal with specific news & current affairs issues and events. 

c) Within Caricature, only caricature works in the strict sense are considered, with only humorous portraits being allowed. 

d) Within Gag Cartoon, works shall be considered that deal with themes that are not directly related to current affairs issues. 

e)Authors should submit to competition the works they consider to be of the highest level. However, this being an international salon, the organisation draws attention that characters, themes, and events of a more universal outlook are the most suitable. 

2. IDENTIFICATION OF WORKS AND AUTHORS 

a) Each work submitted to competition is required to have one entry form and identification label, fully filled and readable. 

b) Each entry form must be pasted on the back of the corresponding work. 

3. ADMISSION OF WORKS 

a) Only the works that have been published between 01 January 2021 and 31 December 2021, in newspapers or magazines of regular publication and on sale to the public, or in online publications of recognized journalistic nature, are accepted for competition. 

b) Authors may submit to competition up to three works, one single work for each category of the salon: Editorial Cartoon, Caricature and Gag Cartoon. 

c) For works created by using traditional techniques, only the originals are accepted. No reproductions. 

d) When elaborated by digital or mixed techniques, works in high resolution prints are admitted if signed by the author, and techniques and software used must be mentioned in the registration form. 

e) Format of the works cannot exceed the A3 European standard measure: 420 x 297 mm. 

f) Works published on paper printed media must be accompanied by the full page of the respective press publication as well as the front 1st page of the newspaper or magazine in which the competing work was published. 

g) Works published online must be accompanied by a print screen of the site page where they were published, with date and title of the publication clearly visible. The access link must be entered on the registration form. 

h) Works with captions, subtitles or other words must be translated into English, and are to be included in readable fashion on the registration form. 

i) Works competing in the Caricature category must include on the entry form the portrayed character's name, nationality, and media relevance. 

j) The works must be sent to one of the addresses made available by the organisation, by the postal limit date of 31 January 2022. 

4. COPYRIGHT 

a) The entry registration act of a work automatically implies the transfer of the respective reproduction rights for non-commercial purposes. 

b) The works that win a prize and the ones awarded an honourable mention become the property of the World Press Cartoon organisation, hence implying automatic transfer of all copyrights. 

5. PACKAGING 

a) The works must be sent in flat packaging, protected between two rigid cards. 

b) On the package front, clearly visible, the following must be written: NO COMMERCIAL VALUE/ SEM VALOR COMERCIAL. 

6. CONTEST 

a) The organization of the World Press Cartoon, under guidance of the Salon´s Director, shall select the works that are to be included in the public exhibition and its catalogue. 

b) Prizes and Honourable Mentions shall be awarded by a five-member international jury including the Salon´s Director, who chairs it. 

c) The jury decisions are taken by majority vote and are not subject to appeal. 

d) According to the assessment made on the quality standard of the competing works, the jury may not award all the expected prizes. 

7. PRIZES 

a) In total, 10 prizes will be awarded according to the following structure:

b) The Grand Prix will be chosen from the 1st Prizes of the three categories of the Salon. 

c) The author distinguished with the Grand Prix will receive only the value attributed to that prize, hence not accumulating with the 1st Prize value of the won category. 

d) The prize value amounts are subject to subtraction of legal taxation as valid at the time of its attribution. 

e) Prizes are symbol translated by a trophy and also authenticated by diploma. 

f) Works distinguished by Honourable Mentions will be symbol translated by medals and also authenticated by diploma 

8. EXHIBITION AND AWARDS CEREMONY 

a) The exhibition of selected works and the awards ceremony will take place at the CCC – Cultural and Congress Centre of Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, on a date to be announced. 

b) The winning authors will be invited to take part in the awards ceremony and inauguration of the public exhibition. 

9. CATALOGUE, WORKS RETURN AND OTHER DISPATCHES 

a) Participants with selected works for the exhibition will receive one copy of the catalogue as well as a participation certificate. 

b) Additionally, authors distinguished with Honourable Mentions will be sent the symbol representation medals. 

c) The competing original works will be returned to their authors, whether or not they are part of the exhibition, except those Prize awarded and the ones distinguished with Honourable Mentions. 

d) Competing high resolution print works shall not be returned. 

e) On the registration form, the author must indicate updated full data of his postal address, to be used for returning works and catalogue and certificate sending, with info like name, street, door number, and other useful references like town, postal code, and country. 

f) For this purpose, P.O. Boxes will not be accepted as postal addresses. 

g) The organisation of the World Press Cartoon will not resend packages returned by postal services, and therefore, authors should provide timely information on any possible change of address after sending their works to contest partaking.

The 6th International Green Crescent Cartoon Contest 2021, Turkey

The 6th International Green Crescent Cartoon Contest Is Now Taking Submissions 

The 6th International Green Crescent Cartoon Contest will be held with the theme “Breaking Free of Addiction”. Declaring that the contest will accept submissions in the category “Under 16” for the first time this year, Green Crescent General Manager M. Nurullah Atalan stated, “We are excited to receive works created by our youth, by both professional and amateur adult cartoon artists alike on the theme of “Breaking Free of Addiction”. The jury of the contest includes cartoon artist Varol Yaşaroğlu. 

The Green Crescent, aiming to draw attention to and raise awareness of addiction, is organizing the 6th annual contest, which receives immense interest each year. It is expected that the works focus on alcohol, tobacco, substance, gambling, and technology addictions under the main theme of “Breaking Free of Addiction” in the contest, of which cartoonist Varol Yasaroglu is among the jury panel. Submissions will remain open to all artists both professional and amateur worldwide on cartooncontest.yesilay.org.tr until January 31, 2022.
