Famous Czech caricaturist Pavel Kundera passes away (17.6.1941 – 9.3.2013)

Pavel Kundera, the Czech cartoonist most famous for his portraits of sportspeople and other celebrities as well, passes aged 71 after a severe illness he fought for many months. Regulations
1. The Festival is open to adult cartoonists, illustrators and graphic artists from all over the world.
2. The quantity of works for each author is not limited (cartoons, caricatures, strips, comics, etc.).
3. The works, in digital format, can be sent by e-mail to the addresses: artunion_75@yahoo.com, thesunnydragon@gmail.com together with the digital entry form with the information about the author. The works, in any technique, black/white or colour, must be saved in high quality JPG, TIFF, PNG or PDF formats, in 300 dpi resolution for A4 size, and should not exceed 5MB for each file. Files larger will not be accepted.
4. The deadline for submissions is MARCH 22, 2013.
5. The works will be exhibited at the House of Artist of Armenia (16 Abovyan Str., Yerevan, Armenia) and may be exhibited at museums, galleries and exhibition halls in Yerevan or in other settlements in Armenia as well, at the discretion of the organizers.
6. Works awarded at other events can take part in our Festival with stating where and when they were awarded.
7. The results of the voting will be given directly to all the participating artists by email, published on the site http://humour2013.jimdo.com/ and on the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Armenian-association-of-caricaturists/105515479573700?ref=hl within April 2013.
8. The opening ceremony will have place on April 1 and the prizes distribution, on April 7, 2013, at the House of Artist of Armenia. The exhibition will remain opened until April 7, 2013.

BRIDE AND MOTHER IN LAW
Criteria for participation:
- One author can participate with only three (3) non textual cartoons; -Application should be done with an application form attached on krivapalanka.gov.mk ;
- The application which is not properly completed , will not be qualified furthermore ;
- Filling the application, the applicant certifies that the piece of art is his own intellectual property and accepts to cede the author`s rights to the organizer of the contest ;
- Applying at the contest the author approves the organizer to use, exhibit, study and publish the pieces of art without limit for the media, period of time or place of its publication;
- It is preferable for the authors to enclose their short Biography;
- The pieces of art are supposed to be sent using e-mail (original or scanned ) with resolution of 300 dpi and the form should be A3 (29,7 x 42) to contest@gradnakulturata2013.mk;

Process of selection and judging:
- All the pieces of art that applied properly should be taken in the preliminary selection

- The authors that should be awarded are supposed to supply the original piece of art in 15 days, after the Publication of the results.

1-DATES
The 40th International Humor Exhibition of Piracicaba 2013, realized by the Piracicaba City Hall/Cultural Action Secretariat/National Graphic Humor Center of Piracicaba will be held in accordance with the following schedule – Registrations: until July 19th. Art Selection: August 03rd and 04th. Awards: August 17th. Opening: August 24th. Closing: October 20th.
2-PARTICIPATION
Professional and amateur artists, Brazilians and foreigners can apply unpublished artworks that were not awarded until the closing date for entries. The theme is free.
The works - all categories - can be sent by MAIL or ELECTRONIC MAIL (applications over the Internet, in the format and 300 DPI JPGE, attached images at once).
The graphical technique is free. Digital copies signed by author and being indicated that it is print number 01 and sculptures, with humorous content will also be accepted. Maximum measures allowed: paper - 42 x 30 centimeters (A3) (16,54 x 11,81 inches), sculptures - 42 centimeters or 16,54 inches (height) x 30 centimeters or 11,81 inches (depth) x 30 centimeters or 11,81 inches (width).
Each artist may enter a maximum of 03 works per category: Cartoon (graphic humor with universal and timeless themes), Charge (graphic humor with journalistic themes of nowadays), Caricature (graphic humor that expresses the physical and/or personality of a known celebrity), Comic Strips/Comic Stories (graphic art in sequence. Caution: for comic stories will be accepted a maximum of 02 pages per work) and Theme Soccer.
Along the registered artwork, the artist must attach a complete registration form with legibly writing. It is also requested reduced curriculum and photo, for registration in the CEDHU's database.

3-AWARDS
The Awards are a total of R$ 40,000.00 (thirty-five thousand reais), acquisitive Municipality of Piracicaba, divided as follows:
a) Five 1st place prizes in the amount of R$ 5,000.00 (five thousand reais) each, divided among the categories.
b) One award of R$ 10,000.00 (ten thousand reais) called GRAND PRIZE INTERNATIONAL HUMOR OF PIRACICABA chosen among the five winners of each category.
c) One prize called Popular Jury “Alceu Marozi Righetto”, in the value of R$ 5.000,00 (five thousand reais), chosen by online open voting. The contestants to this award will be selected by the Awarding Committee. The indicated, such as the schedule and the local for the voting will be announced on the event's opening.
It will be also awarded a prize of R$ 3.131,11 (three thousand one hundred thirty-one reais and eleven cents), exclusively for the caricature category, purchasing value from the City Council of Piracicaba.
Beside the money prize, the awarded artists will be receiving trophies (a creation of Zélio Alves Pinto). Other awards and honors may be imposed at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.
There will be a Selection Jury and an Award Jury composed by qualified people in the area. If the Award Jury finds any type of fraud or plagiarism in one or more registered works, the Jury may cancel the award. The result of the award may be contested until a week after the opening of the Exhibition, with reasonable evidence of any wrongdoing without acknowledgement of the committee.
4-ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The simple application requires the artist to accept these regulations. The selected artists automatically transfer the authorial rights of his artworks for reproductions and publications in any media, without restriction, aiming promotion of the event. The returning of the artworks after the closing of the exhibition must be formally requested early in the registration form. Otherwise the artworks will ultimately belong to the collection of the National Graphic Humor Center of Piracicaba, which will exercise the right of property, as it finds interesting.
The organization of the 40th International Exhibition Humor of Piracicaba is not responsible for possible damages that may happen when the arts are sent or returned.
The authors transfer automatically Authorial Rights of his artworks when awarded acquisitivetely (including mentions), in accordance with the Law n° 9610, February 19st, 1988 (Authorial Rights Law), therefore, universal and definitely in all use modalities and gratuitous, the rights of the author, guaranteed by the mentioned law; referring to the awarded artworks in the International Humor Exhibition of Piracicaba and now integrant part of Municipal Public Property for the purposes of entitlements, in accordance with the Municipal Law n° 2249, 1976, partially amended by the Municipal Law n° 2486, 1982 and consolidated by the Municipal Law n° 5194, 2002.

The event is a part of the 13th edition of Deva annual Humor Festival Liviu Oros.
R U L E S
1. The artworks must be presented in a FREE THEME, under the categories:
A. CARTOON: drawings without any relation to a specific fact;
B. CARICATURE: portrait with anatomic and psychological distortion of well known personalities;
C. STRIP: drawings in sequential panels;
D. HUMOROUS PHOTOS (PICS): good-humored photos with universal theme.
2. The 7th HumoDÆVA INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST is an open competition for cartoonists all over the world. The Participation on the International Contest is free of charge. For all the cartoonists accepted in the contest, the drawings will be displayed FREE OF CHARGE on HumoDAEVA’s site.

The Museum of Caricature and Cartoon Art in Warsaw celebrates its 35th anniversary by inviting artists
to take part in an International Cartoon Competition whose topic is:
The Great and the Little Warsaw
– or whatever good or even better things we can say about our capital
Warsaw – the capital of Poland – has one of the largest populations among European cities. Its long history, dating back to the 9th century, can often prove fascinating. It is a city that was razed to the ground, burnt and gutted during World War II, and still, rebuilt after 1945, it continues to live, though it was supposed to disappear from the face of the earth. It is a city that received the Silver Cross of Poland's highest military decoration for heroism and courage – the Virtuti Militari.
Fascinating as the city can be, it is certainly not devoid of problems that may get on its inhabitants’ nerves. Like every great agglomeration it can delight with life on a grand scale, but also – irritate with its traffic jams. What does the city look like in the eyes of those who live here, but also – of visitors from other Polish cities and of foreigners? What do they find amusing, and what – annoying? What delights the onlooker? This is the topic that we ask our astute observers – the cartoonists – to illustrate.
Competition Rules
The competition is open to artists from all over the world.
Each participant may submit up to 5 works.
The cartoons must be original and signed by their Authors; the maximum dimensions are 42 x 30 cm. The following data must be given on the back: author’s name and surname, address, title of the work, year of creation.

The Jury reserves the right to divide the prizes differently than specified above. The Jury’s decisions are final and may not be the subject of an appeal.
The awarded works become the exclusive property of the Museum of Caricature and Cartoon Art in Warsaw, together with copyright and property rights. The Museum also reserves the right to select and include in its collection one work by each Author. The other works will be returned to their Authors only at their formal written request, after all the activities related to the post-competition exhibition have been completed.
Entering the competition is tantamount to granting permission for reproducing the works free of charge for the publicity purposes of the post-competition exhibition in all the fields of exploitation.
Authors of all the works selected for the post-competition exhibition will receive the exhibition catalogue free of charge.

The International Forum of Visual Humour KARIKATURUM 7 is an open contest, where both professional and amateur artists can take part, regardless of their education, age, sex and nationality.

II. Contest participation
Contest requirements in CARTOON nomination
1.1.The cartoons must be original; the copyright belongs to the participant. Photocopies, printouts and works sent by e-mail will not be evaluated.The works that have won awards earlier have to contain information where and when they were awarded. The jury reserves the right to include or not include it into the list of prize-winning works.
1.2. Techniques: painting, graphics, printed graphics (etchings, lithography, xylograph and linocut), collage.
1.3.The sizes of works -А4 (210х297) toА2 (420х590).
Contest requirements in POSTER nomination
2.1. Both individuals and teams of artists can participate in the contest.
2.2. The posters submitted to the contest must be made specifically on the theme “The Beauty Will Save the World”. The works should not exceed 60х84cm (horizontal and vertical) at 300dpi, СMYK or RGB, and saved in formats: TIF, PDF, EPS or JPG, all the images should be flattened. The author should record his work onto a CD in high resolution; all the files and CDs should be signed. The CD accompanied by the Participant Form (see clause 3.3) is to be sentto the contest address. The works selected for the exhibition will be printed by the organizers.
2.3. The newly created posters should include:

2.4.We also accept posters made by the author in the last 7 years and conforming, in the author’s opinion, to the theme «The Beauty Will Save the World».

2.6. Further texts or mottos can be added by the author’s choice.
General conditions
3.1.Any number of works will be accepted from each cartoonist.
3.2.The works are posted at the participant’s expense. The works should be carefully packed. The organizers are not responsible for any damage during transportation.
3.3. The works should be accompanied by the Participant Form where name, surname, author’s addresses, title of work and year when it was made, telephone, fax and e-mail must be stated. The Participant Form is to be filled out in block letters. The works without the Participant Form are not accepted.
3.4.At the back of each cartoon name, surname, title of work and year when it was made, material and technique should be stated.
3.5. The Organizers guarantee that the authors’ personal data will be processed in accordance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation (Federal Law № 152-FL “About Personal Data” dated July 27, 2006)
3.6. The copyright to the image and texts of a work belong to the participant, it is inalienable. The author bears responsibility for his works as provided by the existing legislation of RF. The author reserves the prerogative right to the original work of art at alienation (transfer into the ownership, donation) if the author doesn’t transfer the right by the Deed of Gift. (article 1291of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation).
3.7.The works sent to the Forum will not be returned and will become part of Surgut Fine Arts Museum collection. The Museum will be grateful for your donation and asks the authors by expression of will to fill out the Deed of Gift (the form of Deed of Gift is attached) to donate your works into the Museum collection and send your Deed of Gift with the works and the Form.
3.8. The works sent to the competition may be exhibited in Surgut Fine Arts Museum, other museums, galleries and exhibition halls at the discretion of the Organizers. The works can also be displayed on the Museum website.
3.9.The Organizers reserve the right to publish the works in Media, including electronic media; or duplicate the works in the Forumadvertising materials with no royalties to the author but the author’s name, surname and nationality will appear on each work.
Special conditions
4.1.The Organizers will cover travel costs to the Award ceremony from any (one) city of Russia and a return ticket and accommodation in Surgut hotel for all prize-winners and jury members. All travel and living costs in transit cities are at the participants’ expense.
4.2.The main money prizes can be divided by the jury decision.
4.3.The Organizers and sponsors of the Forum reserve the right to establish Special prizes upon receiving contest works.
4.4.The catalogue will be published after the contest. All authors, whose works will be included into the catalogue by the jury decision, will receive a free copy of the catalogue.

30. AYDIN DOĞAN INTERNATIONAL CARTOON COMPETITION
• The Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition is organized every year in Turkey by the Aydın Doğan Foundation.
• The competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.
• The Jury, composed of international members, will meet in June 2013.
• The 30th Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition will be celebrated with an award ceremony in
November 2013 in Istanbul.
CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
1. Choice of subject is free.
2. Only original cartoons will be accepted. Cartoons sent as printouts should bear original signatures of cartoonists.
Photographs, photocopies, etc. will not be accepted.
3. Size of cartoons should not exceed 29.7 x 42cm (A3 paper size).
4. Participants are expected to send the filled out participation form, with a short curriculum vitae and a photograph, together with their cartoons. Please fill out the form attached or download it from
www.aydindoganvakfi.org.tr (Click English on top right).

7. By filling out the participation form, the participant declares and accepts in advance that (s)he hands over the financial rights such as processing, duplication, distribution, representation, indication and transmission to
the public via audio and/or visual means (s)he holds over the cartoons to the Aydın Doğan Foundation without limitations on location, time period and number including assignment to third parties under Articles 21-25 of the Law No. 5846 on Turkish Intellectual and Artistic Works for publication; (s)he also declares and accepts in advance that the Aydın Doğan Foundation may use such cartoons to exhibit them, to keep them in its archives, to publish them on the Internet or through other media or to use them in any other way without limitations.
8. The Foundation will cover travel and accommodation expenses of the first three award-winning cartoonists for the award ceremony in Turkey.
9. Cartoons that have not received any awards shall be returned to their owners upon written application to the Foundation within one year. The responsibility of the Foundation finishes after one year.
10. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, May 10, 2013.
11. Jury members cannot participate in the competition in the year they act as a jury member.
12. The decision to upload the cartoons sent to the competition on the Virtual Museum lies with the Aydın Doğan Foundation.

Spiro Radulovic from Serbia wins the Golden Hat in Knokke-Heist 2013, Belgium

Spiro Radulovic from Serbia with the cartoon "Periscope" won the 52nd International Cartoon Contest Knokke-Heist. The decision giving to Radulovic this year's Golden Hat was made by a jury consisting of Fleur van Groningen, Katrien De Vreese, Jos Collignon, Eva Mouton, and Klaas Storme (Zaza).
Jury statement for Golden Hat:
Metaphor for the contemporary man seeking. Snorkeling with a periscope is the absurd image of modernity instead just to swim and enjoy, we dive under oxygen bottles and then we use complex machines to get back above water to watch. Man makes everything more difficult than it is.

The Silver Hat goes to Nikola Hendrickx from Belgium with the cartoon Shit!
Jury Statement for Silver Hat:
The turd is afraid of being crushed, the shoe is afraid to be smeared. both pulling learn fear. a dynamic that you find in many situations: politics, love, work, ... This joke laughs with the human ego and therefore universal and timeless.
The prize of the Fund David is also for Nikola Hendrickx.

The Bronze Hat this year was for Victor Crudu from Moldova.
Jury Statement for Bronze Hat:
We have gone for diversity in our top three.
Contemporary 1, 2 by thinker, 3 an image from the first glance funny. Dry, avant-garde and artistic.
* It took this year 778 cartoonists from 67 countries participated in the contest. They sent along 1,978 cartoons in which 1253 digital and 725 cartoons on paper.

1.The theme for the 13th International Editorial Cartoon Competition is:
Hard times and free speech
When journalists and cartoonist face economic uncertainty or threats to their employment, there is great pressure to give up on tackling tough stories, give in to self-censorship or give attention to sensationalist journalism in the service of commercial sustainability. But can free speech survive hard times?
2. Prizes: three prizes will be given: a first prize of $1500 plus a certificate from the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, a second prize of $750 plus a certificate, and a third of $500 and certificate. All sums are in Canadian dollars. Ten additional cartoons will receive an ‘Award of Excellence.’ Regrettably no financial remuneration accompanies the Awards of Excellence.
3. Only one cartoon will be accepted from each cartoonist. It may be either in color or black and white and must not have won an award.
4. The size of the cartoon should not exceed A4; 21 by 29.2 cm; or 8.50 by 11 inches.
5. The name, address, telephone number and a short biography of the cartoonist must be included in the submission.
6. The Canadian Committee for World Press Freedom shall have the rights to use any of the cartoons entered in the Competition for promotion of our Editorial Cartoon Competition and World Press Freedom Day. Entrance by the cartoonist is deemed acceptance of this condition.
7. The winners of the Cartoon Competition will be announced at the World Press Freedom Day Luncheon held at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada on May 3, 2013 as well as being advised by e-mail. 8. The winning cartoons will be exhibited at the luncheon.

FIFTH CARTOONALE “DE GEUS”

RULES 2013
1. ORGANISER
The cultural association ‘De Geus’, Belgium organises every two year a cartooncontest.
2. PARTICIPATION
Every persoon older than 16 years may participate in this contest.
3. SENDINGS IN
The cartoons sent in should be original and not published before. All graphic technics are allowed. Text is not allowed.
The themes treated are free.
The cartoons should be drawed on solid paper of 21 cm x 29,7 cm (Din A4)
There is no restriction of the number of sendings in.
On the backside of each cartoon the name of the cartoonist must be mentioned with his address.
4. DEADLINE
The cartoons (without passe-partout) must be solidly packed and at latest the 1st of September 2013 sent tot the following address together with the entry form:

5. RIGHT OF PUBLICATION

The jury acts autonomously on awarding prizes.
There is no correspondence allowed with the jury about his decisions.
7. PRIZES
By the jury five prizes are adjudged:

8. EXPOSITION AND DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES

A selection of the cartoons will be exposed in art gallery ‘De Fontein’ in Lebbeke on the 19th and 26th October (14.00-18.00 hours), and on the 20th and 27th of October (10.00-12.00 and 14.00-18.00 hours).
9. SENDING BACK
The cartoons will be sent back only if it is marked on the entry form.
The organisator is not responsible neither for lost nor for damaged cartoons during the sending in and sending back.

Regulations
1. The contest is open to all the cartoonists, illustrators and graphic artists from all over the world. It's possible to participate out of the competition. That request excludes the author from award of the prizes.
2. The theme of the contest is: EUREKA! The inventions that led to the progress of civilization
3. The authors can participate with a maximum of 3 works (Cartoons or Strips) inherent to the theme proposed in connection with the man, his existence and the society, seen in humorous view-point. The works, for being able to be comprised all over the world beyond every linguistic barrier, will have to be without dialogue or texts.
4. The works must be sent by email to info@umoristiamarostica.it together with the application form with all the data of the author or using the form on the site www.umoristiamarostica.it.
The works, in black/white or color made in any technique, must be in GIF, JPG, PNG or PDF, 300 dpi resolution, saved in high quality, weight max. 5 MB. Files larger will not be accepted.
5. The deadline for works reception is March 18, 2013.
6. The authors selected by the jury will have to send the original works or digital prints numbered and signed. Photocopies are not accepted.

7. The acceptance of the works, the selection, and the assigning of the prizes are completely up to the Jury nominated by Artistic Direction and "Gruppo Grafico Marosticense". The Jury's decisions are final.

12. The prize-winning works will not be returned and will be included in the collection of "Umoristi a Marostica Museum".
13. The "Gruppo Grafico Marosticense" reserves the right to authorize the reproduction of the work citing the author with the words "Taken from Umoristi a Marostica", without any payment. The "Gruppo Grafico Marosticense" is not responsible for transport damages.
14. The participation in the contest implies the complete acceptance of all the conditions and rules from the author.

Biography of Yuri Kosobukin (1950 - 2013) and gallery of cartoons.

Results Cartoonale Brugge 2013 with theme "Crime and Punishment", Belgium

757 cartoonists sent in more than 1500 works and 94 cartoons are selected for the exhibition.

14th International Festival of aphorism and caricature, Strumica 2013, R. Macedonia

C O N T E S T
Theme: C A R N I V A L – E R O T I C A
Aphorism:
In this category each author can participate with maximum of 10 aphorisms, printed in three copies, completed with code and particulars about the author, and set in sealed envelope.
The authors are allowed to participate with more works, each as group of 10(ten) aphorisms and marked with particular code.
Caricature:
In this category, the authors can participate and send 3 caricatures, maximum.
The technique is on their own choice, and dimensions A/4.
Particulars about the authors should be written at the back side of the work.
Contest due date:
The works will be accepted up to: February 18, 2013, at latest.
Awards:
Three main prizes will be awarded: Golden, Silver and Bronze Plaque.
The Organizer retains the right to award some additional prizes.
