The Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City invites you to enter . . . The 20th Rotary Cartoon Awards
GENERAL INFORMATION
The competition is designed to recognise the best of Australian and International cartoons with prizes totalling over $10,000. The Rotary Cartoon Awards are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City to raise funds for various Rotary charities and to promote cartooning through the Bunker Cartoon Gallery. All entries will be donated to the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City for exhibitions at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery and other galleries in Australia. They will become part of the Coffs Cartoon Collection. The cartoons may be exhibited and reproduced in a catalogue or similar, onto post cards and copied, at the Rotary Club’s discretion, any time in the future, for sale through the Bunker Cartoon Gallery. The First and Merit winners in all categories also receive a medallion.

One cartoon will be selected from all categories (National and International sections).
This prize which includes the category prize will be $3000 and a special Winner’s Plaque.
The Award Presentation will be held on Friday 21st November 2008 at The Bunker Cartoon Gallery, Coffs Harbour. The Rotary Cartoon Awards 2008 are conducted in association with the Australia Cartoonists' Association and the Federation of Cartoonists Organisations.

International Section
RULES & ENTRY CONDITIONS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
1. The Rotary Cartoon Awards are open to anyone over the age of 18.
2. No captions are permitted in this section.
3. Identification of the subject must appear on reverse of the work, written in pencil, in the top left hand corner.
4. All cartoons submitted must be clearly labelled with the artist’s name, address, telephone number and email address written on the reverse of the work, in pencil, beneath the subject’s name, in the top left hand corner. This makes for easy identification of subject and artist and does not mar the work for exhibition.
3. There are no restrictions on the number of entries submitted and entries may have been published or be unpublished.
5. Cartoons must be originals and may be either colour or black and white. Suggested size of cartoon entries is A4 (210mm x 297mm) but oversized entries will be accepted.
6. Please do not frame entries.
7. Entry to the awards will be taken as an agreement to accept the rules and entry conditions.
8. The cartoons may be exhibited and reproduced in a catalogue or similar, onto post cards and copied, at the Rotary Club’s discretion, any time in the future, for sale through the Bunker Cartoon Gallery.
9. The Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City will appoint judges for the competition. Judges will not be eligible to enter the competition. Judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
10. Winners of the 2008 competition will be announced on 21st November 2008. The Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City will notify all winners.

1. PARTICIPATION
The Salon is open to all cartoonists from all over the world and beyond.
2. THEME
The USA (United States of America).
3. THE PRIZES
1st. Prize: Golden mermaid + $ 2000 US Dollars.
2nd. Prize: Silver mermaid + $ 1500 US Dollars.

4. ENTRIES
A maximum of 3 works can be submitted in any media, black and white or colour, but they should have been elaborated specifically for this contest. It’s recommended to send the works by e-mail but also they can be sent by surface mail. Please do not send originals - good quality photocopies, laser or desk jet printouts would be sufficient.

The Grand Jury of 28th International Nasreddin Hodja Cartoon Contest meets on August 7, 2008 The Grand Jury of 28th International Nasreddin Hodja will meet at Istanbul Cartoon & Humour Museum on August 7, 2008.
The entries for the contest will be accepted if they arrive at the competition address until 17.00 hours on August 4, 2008 at the latest.
The Grand Jury consists of 7 members from Turkey, namely, Turhan Selcuk, Tonguc Yasar, Metin Peker, Kadir Dogruer, Muhittin Koroglu, Gurbuz Dogan Eksioglu, all cartoonists, and Nazan Erkmen, Dean of Fine Arts Faculty, Marmara University, Istanbul. The foreign members of the Grand Jury are Tomas Rodriguez Zayas (Cuba), Leng Mu (China), Paolo Dalponte (Italy), Luiz Carlos Fernandes (Brazil), all cartoonists, and Cheong San Lim, cartoonist and President of Daejeon Cartoon Institute (South Korea).

TV ETHNOS CARTOON AWARD 2008 - Greece
The first cartoon competition is held in Athens by the "TV Ethnos" magazine of the Editorial group Pegasus. The annual competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.
1. Topic: TV and Culture.
2. Techniques: No limits.
3. Original works and signed prints in the case of digital works are accepted.
4. Digital works can be sent electronically to the e-mail cartoonaward@pegasus.gr with the following specifications: Minimum analysis 300 dpi / RGB / JPG. Maximum size up to 5 MB per e-mail.
5. The works will be sent until 30 September 2008 at the latest, to the following address:

6. The minimum size of works is A4 (210 x 297mm). The maximum size is A3 (297 x420 mm) and should be sent without a frame. Each artist / cartoonist may submit up to three works.
7. The prizes:
First prize 8000 Euro
Second prize 5000 Euro
Third prize 3000 Euro
In addition there will be three special prizes.
8. Works that have been awarded in previous competitions will not be accepted.
9. The foundation will not be responsible for damage that may occur during postage and handling.
10. A short biography of the artist and a photograph should be attached.
11. All the selected cartoons will be exhibited in Athens and possibly in other parts of Greece, over time.
12. The jury composed of distinguished Greek and foreign cartoonists and Personalities from the Cultural and Artistic area, will meet in October 2008 in Athens to announce the winners.
13. The foundation will cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the first three prize-winning cartoonists for the award ceremony in Athens.
14. The award-winning cartoons will not be returned to artists while the cartoons, which do not win awards, will be returned to the artists upon written request.
15. A competition catalogue will be published. The participant artists will receive a copy of the catalogue.
16. The award ceremony and exhibition of selected cartoons by the committee will be held in December 2008 in Athens.
17. Following the announcement of the results of the illustrations will be posted on the site of the organizers.
18. After the announcement of the winners, there will be a period of 15 days for filling complaints or objections against the award-winning works for similarities or awards in previous competitions. Complaints will be submitted to the e-mail: cartoonaward@pegasus.gr with the necessary evidence.
19. After examining the complaints the final results will be announced and are nonnegotiable.
20. The selected works will be exhibited at http://www.tvethnoscartoonaward.gr/ and may be used for promotional purposes, printed or electronically or otherwise, and permit third parties to reproduce them for promotional purposes of the exhibition and used without any monetary or otherwise compensation.
21. By entering works to the competition the participant automatically agrees to the terms and conditions of Participation. It is expressly referred to the fact that the author thereby also agrees to the exhibition of his/her works and their reproduction in the Competition Catalogue.
