Annual Cartoon Contest – Rules and regulation 2007
1. Participation
All contestants will be admitted with no distinction made regarding nationality or age. There are two categories:
· Youth category up to 15 years inclusive
· Adult category: 16 years and older
2. Theme
The theme is “007, espionage and detectives”.
3. Entries
· Original cartoons in black and white or colour, may bear no captions.
· Dimensions including any passe-partout 21 x 30 cm.
· Works sent rolled and works larger than DIN A4 will not be returned.
· Number of entries per contestant: maximum five.
4. Property rights
Prize-winning works will become the property of the organizer or the major sponsors. All works selected may be used by the organizers to promote the contest and the village of Olen.
5. Catalogue/Cartoon book
Selected works will be considered for inclusion in a catalogue. The authors of these works will receive a free copy of the catalogue during the prize ceremony or it will be send afterwards by mail.
6. Return mail
Return of the cartoons happens only on explicit request of the participant. In that case the return of the works will take place at organizers’ cost approximately six months after the ‘deadline’. The organizers will endeavour to handle the return forwardings with the utmost care but cannot be held responsible for loss or damages.
7. Deadline
The deadline is 23 September 2007.

8. Prizes
For the adult category:
1st prize: 750 euro
2nd prize: 300 euro
3rd prize: 200 euro
4th prize: 150 euro
5th prize: 125 euro
For the youth category:
1st prize: 200 euro
2nd prize: 175 euro
3rd prize: 150 euro
4th prize: 100 euro
Only for Belgian participants: Prize of the province of Antwerp: week-end (youth and adult category)
9. Prize Ceremony and Exhibition
The prize ceremony will take place at Friday 9th of November 2007 at approximately 20.00 h in the council room of the town hall of Olen, Dorp 1, 2250 Olen. Every participating artist will be welcome on that occasion. A selection of the cartoons will also be exhibited at the same address and can be visited:

2nd EXHIBITION OF GRAPHIC HUMOR - SPAIN

The Valencian Journalists Union (Unio de Periodistes Valencians - UPV) organizes the 2nd EXHIBITION OF GRAPHIC HUMOR in collaboration with FECO-Spain and with the sponsorship of Caja de Ahorros del Mediterraneo (CAM). The aim of this exhibition is to emphasize how important graphic humour is to freedom of expression. Graphic humour is a journalistic genre highly charged with denunciation and civic compromise, which contributes to the reflection and to the action, waking up consciences with a smile against the depredation of the Earth.
RULES
1. Theme: THE EARTH IN DANGER. A health world is possible.
We can't continue with the gas emanation which is destroying the ozone cape, the urbanite depredation, the contamination of the water, the sea temperature increase, the billions of refuses, the unlimited water waste, the indiscriminate burning forests and the reduction of the species and flora.
2. The concourse is open for professionals and amateurs.
3. Deadline is the 15th of September 2007.
4. A Jury of qualified experts will make a selection of the works which have been submitted.
5. The selected drawings will be exhibited at the "La Llotgeta Exhibition Hall" of the CAM in Valencia, between 6th till 29th November 2007. The exhibition will be continued by travelling to different cities.
6. The size limits of the drawing are minimum A4 (210mm X 297mm) to maximum A3 (297mm X 420mm)
7. Maximum number of entries is 3 works, black & white or coloured, without text. Any kind of style and any kind of technique will be accepted.
8. Every drawing must be signed with the following information on the back side of the cartoon: name, address, phone & fax, e-mail, and title.
9. The Drawing must be original. Digital Drawing will be accepted with the signature by the authors, but not copies of them.
10. Once the exhibition has finished the drawings will be returned to their authors, but not the digital version.
11. Catalogue: A catalogue will be edited with all the cartoons that have been selected. Each author will receive one copy of this catalogue.

13. It will be indispensable to add the inscription to the drawings and a short curriculum vitae.
14. The organizers assume no responsibility for damage or loss of any entry for reasons beyond our control.
15. The drawing can be given free for the organization of the Exhibition to be part of an International Documental Found of Graphic Humour, which will be started by this 2nd Exhibition by the Valencian Journalists Union and FECO-Spain. The authors, who wish to be part of this Found, must express their authorization in the inscription. The Found's Objective is the organization of a touring exhibition, the publication of catalogues and the foundation of an international documental archive about the graphic humour where the author rights and intellectual property will be respected.
16. Accepting these rules means the cession of the author rights to the organization, only for the advertising of the exhibition, the edition of the catalogues and for the travelling exhibition. Reproducing the selected works will have no cost for the organization, since the catalogues and the travelling exhibition won't have any lucrative purpose.

The 8th Tehran International Cartoon Biennial

The 8th Tehran International Cartoon Biennial organizing committee invites cartoonists from all over the World to participate in this contest.
Regulation:
1) The contest is open to all cartoonists.
2) The contest will be in four categories:
A- Cartoon (Two Sections) Theme: 1. Money 2. Free
B- Comic strip, theme: Bad luck
C- Caricature, theme: Free
Special Prize: Luciano Pavarotti
3) THE PRIZES:
Grand Prize: 8000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention (The main cartoon theme)
First Prize: 2000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
Second Prize: 1500$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
Third Prize: 1000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
The first to Third Prize will be awarded separately for each section of the contest.
The jury panel of the 8th Tehran Cartoon Biennial will also award 10 selected artists with Honorable Mentions.
Special Prizes will be offered by various Sponsors, Establishments, Associations, Newspapers and Agencies.
4) A maximum of 3 works in each section can be submitted by the participating cartoonists.
5) The dimensions of works should not exceed the minimum 20x30 cm and maximum 30x40 cm
6) Comic strip must be presented in one page and without any words.
7) Only original artworks are accepted, without any kind of frame, accompanied by the entry form and author's short biography and photo.
8) Quality prints of works achieved by digital tools will be accepted as originals as long as they are hand signed by the author, accompanied by the digital file of the artwork in Tiff format with 300 Dpi resolution on a CD. No photocopies or photographs will be accepted.
9) Name, surname, address, phone number and e-mail of the participant should be written on the back of each cartoon
10) The choice of technique is free, color or B&W and etc.
11) The deadline : October 22, 2007

12) The participating cartoons will not be returned.
13) All Cartoonists whom their cartoons are published in the catalogue will receive a free copy.
14) The organizers will do their best to protect all submitted cartoons from any probable damage, but takes no responsibility of the damages caused by post or bad transport.
15) The organizers hold all the rights to publish the cartoons submitted to the contest and use them in any from.
16) All participants are considered to accept all the conditions.

27th International Nasreddin Hodja Cartoon Contest - Turkey

THE CONDITIONS
a) The contest is open to all cartoonists all over the world.
b) The cartoonists are free to participate with already published works as long as these works have not previously been awarded in any other contest.
c) The theme of the cartoons is free for the participants to decide.
d) The participants may send only one work.
e) The dimensions of works should not exceed 30 x 40 cm and only originals are accepted.
f) Name, surname, address, phone number and country of origin of the participant should be written on the back of his/her work. And also a short CV of the participant should be attached. g) The works must reach the organizing association not later than 16th July 2007.
h) The results will be announced on 1st August 2007.
i) The participating cartoons will be kept at the Cartoon and Humour Museum of Istanbul by the Association of Cartoonists.
j) The participating cartoons will be put into album. The cartoons for the album and the exhibition will be selected by a jury. An album will be sent to the cartoonists whose piece of work are exhibited and published in the album.
k) The participating works will be exhibited first in Istanbul then the big cities of Turkey such as Ankara, Izmir, Adana and Antalya.
l) Participants are considered to have accepted all the conditions.
The Prizes:
a) Grand Prize: 3.000 $
b) Honour Prizes: 4 Honour Prizes, each 750 $
Special Prizes: Special Prizes offered by various establishments, associations, newspapers, art magazines, syndicates and agencies
