II International Competition for Comic and Blitzanimation, Ruse 2016, Bulgaria

The "Lyuben Karavelov" Regional library – Ruse, is one of the largest public libraries in Bulgaria, which this year celebrates its 128th anniversary.
Among the most significant events in its rich cultural calendar is the annual International Competition for Ex Libris, an initiative launched in 2005. The competition has an established international reputation; it involved over 600 artists from over 50 countries worldwide. In 2015 for the second time the library organizes an international competition for comic and blitzanimation, titled SPACE AND CHAOS.

REGULATIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
SPACE AND CHAOS
The aim of organizers is through the media of comics as a link between literature, fine art, animation, cinema and caricature to unify and stimulate various art communities in the field of comics and visual arts.
REQUIREMENTS AND RULES
The contest is carried out in two categories: traditional comics and blitzanimation.
Anyone aged 18 + of any nationality of any profession may participate.
1/ Traditional comics category:
Number of artworks participating: Authors are allowed to send up to 3 graphic works, four copies each.
Pages: Maximum 6 pages. The number of each page must be put at the back of it.
Format: Format of artwork must be А3 or А4.
Technique: Any
Plot: Artwork plot must be complete within the number of pages sent.
2/ Blitzanimation category:
Minimum film duration: 30 seconds
Maximum film duration: 60 seconds
Technique: free: puppet, classical, 3D animation
Format: HD
Synopsys of film up to 500 symbols; three digital advertisement film photo shoots.
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
A filled in and signed Application form accessible at: www.libruse.bg. Incomplete and incorrectly filled in application forms shall not be regarded. In case of change of data, authors must undertake to inform the Library.

Artwork is to be sent via post mail (date on stamp holds valid), deadline is 30.04. 2016

RIGHT OF OWNERSHIP, RIGHTS FOR USE AND PUBLICATION OF ARTWORKS PARTICIPATING IN THE COMPETITION
Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov" - Ruse acquires the right to use the sent for the contest works for exhibitions, publications and advertising, without the need of explicit consent of the authors and without payment. Participation in the competition is equal to the acception of this Regulation by each author, which is certified with the signature on the application form. The received works will not be returned to their authors. They become a part of the permanent exhibition "Museum of Comics."
AWARDS
Grand Prix - 300 EURO
Results will be announced in June 2016. Every applicant who meets the requirements above will receive a certificate and an e-catalogue via email given in the Application form. After a pre-selection authors shall be presented in the e-catalogue by only one artwork. All artworks received will be published in the Regional Library “Lyuben Karavelov” - Ruse website: www.libruse.bg.
Selection and awards are determined by a specially selected for this purpose professional jury.
An exhibition/presentation of artworks admitted to the Competition will be performed to Ruse’s public and media.

International Cartoon Contest "Bride's Veneration" Kriva Palanka 2015, Macedonia

Municipality of Kriva Palanka and author of the International Cartoon Contest BRIDE’S VENERATION to St. Theodore Tyron-village Konopnica - Kriva Palanka, Stojance Velickovski (RZR PATNIK) announces International Cartoon Contest on "THE MAN AS A COLLATERAL DAMAGE IN A RELATION DAUTHER IN LAW – MOTHER IN LAW."
Criteria for participation:
- One author can participate with only for (4) non textual cartoons;
- Application should be done with an application form attached on krivapalanka.gov.mk ; The application which is not properly completed, will not be qualified furthermore;
- Filling the application, the applicant certifies that the piece of art is his own intellectual property and accepts to cede the author`s rights to the organizer of the contest;
- Applying at the contest the author approves the organizer to use, exhibit, study and publish the pieces of art without limit for the media, period of time or place of its publication;
- It is preferable for the authors to enclose their short Biography;
- The pieces of art are supposed to be sent using e-mail (original or scanned) with resolution of 300 dpi and the form should be A3 (29,7 x 42) to; contest@velickovski.com 
- Application deadline is 20th of January 2016.
Process of selection and judging:
- All the pieces of art that applied properly should be taken in the preliminary selection;
- The jury should choose to award the arts that will enter the preliminary selection;
- The authors that should be awarded are supposed to supply the original piece of art in 15 days, after the Publication of the results.
Publication of the results:
- The results will be published on the web site of the Municipality of Kriva Palanka (www.krivapalanka.gov.mk) not later than 20th of February 2016.

Multiple Kafka in Istanbul : 6 - 31 January 2016

Multiple Kafka in Istanbul : Jirí Slíva, one of the Czech Republic's most prominent illustrators, famed across Europe for his witty cartoons, exhibits a series of lithographs and etchings at the Schneidertempel Arts Center, in Istanbul's Karakoy district.
Slíva's show is composed of two parts, a series of litographs and etchings that deals with a set of his favourite themes - cafes, jazz, love, wine and of course, Franz Kafka.
The exibition entitled Multiple Kafka, which runs until 31 January 2016 gives a glimpse into the artist's diverse portfolio alongside illustrations of eminent 20th century writer Franz Kafka´s novel, Metamorphosis (Die Verwandlung).
Jirí Slíva was born in Pilsen, the Czech Republic's fourth largest city. He moved to Prague in 1966, where he resides until today. Slíva studied economics and worked as a sociologist for eight years before a major career shift to the arts in 1970s. He has exhibited his work in international galleries, including solo shows in Berlin, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Tokyo and New York. Multiple Kafka in Istanbul marks the Czech artist's debut in Turkey. The exibition is the first in a series of events organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Turkey.

Conditions and rules:
Initially, each participant can submit up to 3 entries in digital format by sending them before April 10th, 2016 via internet (Upload) to the following address:
www.nielsbuggeaward.org/sendcartoon.html
together with the digital entry form with the informations about the author. Size for the first round:
A4 Format, 300dpi, 2480x3508 pixel, Max. 5 MB each file.
The cartoons received after the deadline will be rejected.
Out of these submissions, the jury will make a selection of 100-150 drawings. Only the selected artists will be asked to send the original work by post. All these works will be shown at the exhibition.
The works can be made in black & white or color, with any drawing technique, we accept only wordless cartoons, without subtitles. The submitted work should not have been awarded before the deadline of this contest.
Cartoon works will be appreciated by the International Jury.The award winners selected by the jury will be personally informed via e-mail. The final decisions of the jury are incontestable.
The Prizes are:
1st Prize : 3.000 €, Gold Plakete und Dyplom
2nd Prize : 2.000 €, Silver Plakete und Dyplom
3rd Prize : 1.000 €, Bronze Plakete und Dyplom
The selected participants give the organizers permission to use their drawings only for promoting the artist and the event itself. Every other aspect of the copyright remains with the artist (except for the awarded submissions). It ensures that the awarded works can no longer be submitted in other contests or published by their authors or third parties after the official publication of the results.The drawings that were awarded one of the prizes will become property of the organizer.The exhibition and the award ceremony will take place in late May 2016.
By taking part in this contest the participants accept the above mentioned rules.
