An exhibition of portrait cartoons will be opened at the event for Turkish novelist and playwright Orhan Kemal. We are waiting for your works to be included in this event. 

1- The exhibition is open to amateur and professional artists from all over the world. 
2- the subjet of the exhibition; It has been determined as "Orhan Kemal Portraits". 
3- The technique is free of charge for the works that will participate in the competition. 
 4- Participants can submit as many works as they want.

Culture connects people - cartoonists wanted
Binding terms and conditions
Participation 
Anyone aged 18 and over can participate in this international contest. Participants declare that they agree with the terms and conditions of the contest, the rules, and the jury’s decisions. Participation is free. The deadline is December 31st 2021
Definition of a cartoon 
A cartoon is a humorous drawing. This can be a parody of a current situation or simply an image of a comic situation. This cartoon can consist of a single image or take the form of a short comic with a maximum of 3 drawings. Moving images are not allowed. 
Theme 
The theme of this contest is “Culture connects people”. 
Submissions 
Each entrant may submit a maximum of 5 entries (color or black and white) in A4 format. 
All drawings must be submitted digitally in sufficiently high quality, at least A4 600 dpi. Accepted file formats are jpg, png, psd, eps and pdf. 
The drawings must be original, i.e. not previously awarded, published or exhibited. They may not be provided with text, nor may the name 'vtbKultuur' and the logo of the association be used. 
Entries are made through the website www.vtbkultuur-cartoons.be where a registration form can be filled in and files can be uploaded immediately. Another option is to deliver the files via WeTransfer to the email address below. 
Originality of the works 
The participant is responsible for the originality of his works. Disputes and possible claims with regard to all forms of plagiarism, etc. are the responsibility of the participant. 
Ownership rights 
By submitting an entry, the participants entitle the organizing association to use their entries to promote the association, especially - but not exclusively - in the context of the celebration year on the occasion of its 100th anniversary (e.g. catalog, image archive, cartoon expo, publicity in the press and on other media, individual printed matter such as posters, leaflets, etc.). 
All selected works for the exhibition become the property of the organizing association. When using it, the cartoonist's name will always be mentioned. Contest participants whose work has not been selected are free to use it for other purposes. 
Jury 
A professional jury makes a selection for the exhibition from the entries received and appoints the prize winners. Determination of plagiarism will result in exclusion from the entry. 
The laureates will be announced during the opening of the first cartoon expo in early April 2022. There will be no communication whatsoever about the contest. However, the organizing association will inform all participants whether they are among the winners or whether their work has been selected for the traveling cartoon expos. 
Award ceremony and expo 
The winning cartoons, together with an exquisite selection of the submitted cartoons, will travel through Flanders and Brussels with traveling cartoon expos from the end of March 2022 till the end of October 2022. If successful, the period of the exhibition will be extended. 
With each cartoon the name of the cartoonist is mentioned. 
The award ceremony will take place during the opening of the first expo. Date to be determined. 
Cartoon brochure 
A digital and paper cartoon brochure will be published. Selected participants will receive a digital version and are entitled to one paper copy that they can obtain free of charge upon simple request. However, they are responsible for the postage themselves or collect the brochure themselves from the organizing association. 
The prizes 
1st prize: 1.000 euros 
2nd prize: 500 euros 
3rd prize: 250 euros 
Prize for best Flemish entry: 250 euros 
Audience award: 250 euros (this prize will be awarded after the last cartoon expo, at the end of October 2022)

PARTICIPATION 
All persons over 18 years of age are eligible to participate in this international contest. Participants shall agree to the terms and conditions of the rules and the decisions of the jury. Belgian law governing withholding tax on prizes won by foreign participants applies. 
Participation is free of charge. Deadline 31.12.2021
DEFINITION 
A cartoon is a humorous drawing. This may be a caricature of a famous person, a parody of a real situation, or simply a picture of a funny situation. The cartoon may consist of one image or take the form of a short comic strip. No moving images allowed. 
THEME 
Participants are free to choose the theme of their entries. 
ENTRIES 
Regulations ​
Maximum 5 submissions per person, black and white or colour. 
The cartoons must not contain text. 
Drawings can also be made digitally. 
They must be packaged flat and not folded. 
Works under glass, framed or in other materials will not be accepted. 
They must not have been exhibited in Belgium or awarded in other countries. 
Entries 
Digital entries: min. 2480 x 3500 pixels (A4 300dpi). Allowed file types: jpg jpeg eps tif psd pdf.
Entries may only be sent by post after the form has been completed on the website and the form is enclosed with the entry. Dimensions min. 21 x 30 cm or max. 30 x 42 cm. The entrant’s name, first name and address must be written on the back of each cartoon. 
Your participation is only valid if we have received your fully completed entry form on our website. 
Entries are submitted at the expense of the entrants. 
The selected cartoons wil be framed with a passe-partout for the exhibition. 
ORIGINALITY OF WORKS
The sender remains responsible for the originality of his work. Discussions and possible claims concerning all forms of plagiarism are the responsibility of the contributor.
b>OWNERSHIP RIGHTS
By participating, entrants grant the organizing body the right to use their entries as advertising for the “International Cartoon Festival” and the seaside resort Knokke-Heist (e.g. as cartoon book, catalogue, advertising in the press and other media, separate promotional printed works such as posters, leaflets, etc., promotional gifts by the city council and/or cartoon festival organizers, calendar).
JURY 
A professional jury will make a selection for the exhibition from the submissions received and will select 10 nominees. 
This selection will be checked for plagiarism after which the jury can decide to make a selection. 
The winners will be announced on the opening date of the festival.
OWNERSHIP BY ORGANIZING BODY
All submitted works shall become the property of the organizing body related to the cartoon festival.
You can ask for a return of the submitted items on your expence. Submitted works will be stored for maximum 2 years.
CARTOON BOOK
In collaboration with “Davidsfonds” Leuven, a cartoon book will be published, subject to budgetary and technical constraints. Selected participants will be entitled to one copy.

DIOGENES OF SINOPE, 1st INTERNATIONAL CARTOON COMPETITION 2022
1- The competition is open to amateur and professional artists from all over the world. 
2- The subject of the competition; It has been determined as "Sabahattin Ali Portraits". 
For information about Sabahattin Ali: 
3- The technique is free of charge for the works that will participate in the competition. The works must not have received an award in any competition before. 
4- Sabahattin Ali is a symbolic value for Sinop. It is important that he was imprisoned in the historical Sinop Prison and that he wrote the circulating poem "Aldırma Gönül" here. Now, the organization of an international competition on his portraits in Sinop is a salute to him by Sinop and world artists... 
In addition to the physical character of Sabahattin Ali in the portraits participating in the competition, his socialist, progressive, critical and realistic writings… the writer/enlightenment who rebelled against injustices will also be sought first.

Brazilian artist Cau Gomez wins PortoCartoon 2021 with theme HEALTH

Brazilian artist wins PortoCartoon 2021
Caricatures of Luther King and Maria João Pires award to India and Portugal
Cau Gomez, from Brazil, won the Grand Prize of the 23rd PortoCartoon-World Festival, organized by the Portuguese Printing Press Museum with the theme HEALTH (as per the 3rd UN ODS). 
The winning work is entitled “A Peste” (The Plague) and is a black humor metaphor about the threats of the present times (Top)
The Second Prize was awarded to Tony Tasco, from Belgium, and the third was to Luis Fernando Echeverri (Fernando Pica), from Colombia. 
The quality of the work led the international jury to award 27 Honorable Mentions to artists from different countries such as Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Spain, France, Iran, Italy, Portugal and Turkey. 
Luther King and M. João Pires give awards to India and Portugal 
This year's edition included two Special Caricature Awards about the figures of Martin Luther King, Nobel Peace Prize, assassinated in 1968, and Maria João Pires, whose “way of playing the piano has often been described as magical, captivating and profoundly poetic” (Deutsche Grammophon). 
The winners were, respectively, Shankar Pamarthy, from India and Aurélio Mesquita (Portugal). 
Shankar Pamarthy was also won the 2nd Maria João Pires Special Caricature Award. 
The Maria João Pires Prize exhibition will be at Teatro Constantino Nery, Matosinhos, from September 17 to October 31, as per the decentralization policy of the Portuguese Printing Press Museum activities. 
The winners of the 23rd PortoCartoon will receive the trophies (designed by Siza Vieira) and the Awards during the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which will take place at the Portuguese Printing Press Museum located in Porto, on a date to be announced in due time.

The Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC) is pleased to participate, in partnership with CONTEKST, The SHIFT, the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, the Ryerson Lincoln Alexander School of Law, and The Law Foundation of Ontario, in the third edition of IMAGES of JUSTICE: The Right to Housing! 
This edition will exhibit satirical and comic visualization of various facets and challenges of the human right to adequate housing. The images of this series will shed light upon challenges, inconsistencies, and flaws within the current framework of the human right to housing and its full realization.
