Participation is open to all cartoonists from every country in the world. There is no Entry fee.

Brief:
We invite cartoons which humorously communicate the seriousness of the theme, by rethinking sustainability and recycling. Rethink situations, rethink technology, cars, mobile phones, materials, energy resources and everything else we use day in and day out to keep going. Rethink and depict how the usage of new materials that can fully enter a new life cycle by either going back to nature or going back into the design process as a new product affect our world.

A jury will select the top 6 winning entries, the cartoonists will be granted a cash prize award of

We are in process of putting a jury of well-known professionals and socially active personalities. The names will be announced in due course, depending on confirmation. For Judgment jury will use criteria such as creativity, humor, visual communication, presentation, persuasiveness, originality, cleverness, relevance of content and execution to identify the winner.

Results the 26th International Humor Exhibition of Piauí

It was placed on Pedro II square, the Teresina cultural core, the International Humor Exhibition of Piauí that received a crowd at the day of closing of its 26th edition. Cinema, theater, music, crafts, plastic arts and, of course, lots of humor designs that covered the square and nearby cultural places with great art and humor. And the public gave their answer with their attending, in each day of the event. But the Salon has reached its end, at least for this edition. However, the last day was one of great celebration. In the midst of a large audience, music and art exhibitions, the chairman of the National Humor Foundation and event organizer, Albert Piauí, led the event closing ceremony and announced the outcome of the Competitive Cartoon Exhibition – Theme: Environment.

The winner of the 26th International Humor Exhibition of Piauí was the Iranian artist Mohammad Ali Khalaji with the cartoon "Trees" (Top above). And, due the high quality of works, the jury decided to give two honorable mentions to the artists Pol Leurs, from Luxembourg, and Mahmood Nazari from Iran.

[Ageless youth and longevity] was the hope that was not granted of King and nobles in the world. To make the dreams come true, stories were born about how loads of money were poured for the search of magical medicine.
Today, people are able to realize have “long life”, but if questioned about whether they are “happy”, the answer may not always be “yes”. Long lived and happy are unfortunately note always slow and stress free life.

The reason we decided the theme as “Healthy Aging” is so we hope that young generations can have positive image for the future.

Results the "Fair Play" International Cartoon Contest in Odessa, Ukraine

The permanent exhibition of cartoons forwarded to the “Fair Play” International Contest was opened on Friday, June 26, on Primorskiy blvd in Odessa. The exposition is placed in glass windows, round the entrance to the escalator, at the side of Primorskiy blvd.
Initially three money prizes for the winners of the “Fair Play” International Contest were foreseen. However already during working out the totals it was decided to increase the number of rewards, adding another second prize and two more thirds.
Marina Turovskaya (Ukraine) became the victress of the contest. (Top above)

Igor Kondenko (Ukraine) and Milenko Kosanovich (Serbia) took the second place.

Bronze prizewinners are Victor Golub (Ukraine), Paolo Dalponte (Italy), and Cem Koc (Turkey).
Encouraging prizes were reached by Odessites: Victor Dzhevaga - granted by “Alye Parusa” restaurant, Aleksander Barabanschikov - granted by the Worldwide Club of Odessites, Anatoliy Sinishin - granted by the “Knizhkoviy supermarket” network of the Odessa bookstores.

36th International Humor Exhibition of Piracicaba - Brazil
REGULATION
1 – Dates
The 36th Piracicaba International Humor Show will be held according to the following REGULATION AND SCHEDULE:
- REGISTRATION: until August 03, 2009
- OPENING: August 29, 2009
2 – Participation
All professional or amateur cartoonists may register new humor works that have not received prizes in other shows, until up to the event subscription closing date (August 03, 2009). Each author may register up to 2 (two) works per category. Any works developed in any technique will be accepted.
3 – Categories
Cartoon, Charge, Caricature, Strips and Vanguard (in this category, computerized works may be registered).
The theme is free, in A3 (297 x 420 mm) format, without frames and cardboard-mounted. In the Strips category, boards with a maximum of 1 to 3 pages will be accepted, with humor themes.
Categories Definitions:
CARTOON – Graphic humor with universal and eternal themes.
CHARGE – Graphic representation of a current journalistic theme.
CARICATURE – Graphic art that expresses in a satiric manner the physical and/or personality character features.
STRIPS – Graphic art in sequence, with theme closed in standard format, usually published in newspaper columns.
VANGUARD – Graphic humor translated into forms that do not follow previous standards, but are presented as a cardboard presentation, in A3 (297 x 420mm) format. Works that did not comply with these dimensions will be automatically disqualified.
4 - The awarding
A total of 5 (five) prizes will be awarded, in a total amount of R$ 25,000.00 (twenty five thousand reais), acquisitive by Piracicaba Municipality, divided as follows:
a) Five Prizewinners, in the amount of R$ 4,000.00 (four thousand reais), divided into the following categories.
b) A R$ 5,000.00 (five thousand reais) prize denominated GRANDE PRÊMIO SALÃO DE HUMOR DE PIRACICABA [Piracicaba Humor Show Big Prize], which will be granted to one of the five prizewinners in each category.
c) The winner of the Humor Show Big Prize, will receive a special trophy, and the prizewinners of each category, whose artwork and creation will be donated by cartoonist Zélio Alves Pinto.
It will be conferred also a prize, in the value of R$ 3,131.11 (three thousand one hundred thrity-one reals and eleven cents), exclusively for the category caricature, buying value of the Chamber of Councilmen of the City of Piracicaba.
Observation: The prize jury reserves the right to not award prizes to the categories that do not reach the required levels, transferring them to other categories or creating a special prize of the Show.
There will be a Selection Jury and a Prize Jury composed of qualified people of the concerned area. The prizes will be acquisitive by Piracicaba Municipality.
If the prize jury finds any type of fraud or illegal use in one or more registered works, it may cancel the awarded prize. The awarded works will be divulged on the Humor Show’s webpage after inauguration of the same, and may be contested until one week after the Show’s opening, with the applicable evidence of any irregularities committed without the jury’s knowledge. Other prizes and mentions may be instituted, at the discretion of the Organization Committee.

Works will be returned until 1 (one) year after closing of the event on October 18, 2009. If the artist wishes to receive his/her work before that date, he/she must request it at ‘Centro de Pesquisa de Divulgação Nacional de Humor de Piracicaba’, at the above mentioned address.
In addition to the registration form, each work page must present on the back the following information: registration category, author’s full name, artistic name, full address, phone number, e-mail, CPF and RG number and banking data. They may also send a brief curriculum vitae and a picture for registration in the Show’s database.
When registering, the author transfers the Assignment of Author’s Rights relative to his/her Work(s) when awarded on an acquisitive basis, in conformity with Law 9610 of February 19, 1988 (Copyright Law) on a full, universal and definite basis, in all utilization modes and on a complimentary basis, the author’s rights, safeguarded by the said law, relating to the work(s) awarded in the Piracicaba International Humor Show, becoming an integral part of the Municipal Public Heritage for all intents and purposes, in conformity with Municipal Law 2249 of 1976, partially altered by Municipal Law 2486 of 1982, and consolidated by Municipal Law 5.194 of 2002.

Xue You Yuan, the largest Children education media group in China, starts the cartoon image collection contest for its core journal Passion For Learning!
This contest is undertaken by Zhongman Web (http://www.zhongman.com/, the most professional cartoon information website in China) and Xue You Web (http://www.61go.com/ , the homepage of Xue You Yuan Education Media Group). It aims at looking for the cartoon spokesman for journal Passion For Learning and the long-term cartoon partner for Xue You Yuan Education Media Group.
The Chinese Characters Xue You Yuan(学友园)mean “learning, friends and party”, which rooted in the most influential Chinese education classical book the Analects: “Will you feel happy while learning and reviewing? Will you feel happy while there are friends coming afar? Enjoy the happiness alone, enjoy the happiness together, which is more happier?”
As Xue You Yuan’s core journal, Passion For Learning is the first grade subdivision learning journal for primary pupils in China. The journal has three branches: Chinese Language, Mathematics and Writing, which is edited from Grade One to Grade Six. So there are 18 volumes per month. 2. Regulations.
a) Entries must be a complete sight “cartoon image”: human, animal, plants or other abstract image will be OK.
b) Entries can be a single carton image, or a series of cartoon images with close relationship.
c) Entries must be accompanied with description included the cartoon image’s name and symbolic meanings.
d) The image must be close to the ordinary life and psychological characteristics of pupils, no matter in meaning expression and drawing skills. It also has to respect the independent personality of children, being funny, created individually and has universal promote potential.
e) Entries can be static cartoon or dynamic animation (flash).
(1) Static cartoon works: min. 300dpi, JPEG format.
(2) Dynamic animation works: 3-5 minute segments, .MPG, .AVI or .MOV format.
(3) Flash animation work must submit .SWF documents (authors should keep the .FLA source documents prepare for check).
(4) The entry form has to be finished. Your names, address, e-mail and phone number should be attached.

4. Assessment.
a) All entries will be published on Zhongman Web and Xue You Web and accept the online voting. The cut-off date of voting is: Feb 1st, 2010.
b) Organizing Committee will gather the result of voting, take the advises from education professors and cartoon experts, and then select the best work as the cartoon image of Passion For Learning. Another 10 finalist prize will be selected at the same time.
5. Prize and Awards.
Gold prize: one, 10,000 RMB with certificate.
Finalist Prize: ten, 1000 RMB each and certificate.

6. Special Note:
The finalist prize winners (or teams) will have the opportunity to sign with Xue You Yuan to draw covers and insert drawings of Passion For Learning magazine series (18 books per month). The fee of the cover is 1000-2000 RMB per page (18 pages per month). The fee of insert drawings is 200-400RMB per page (500 pages per month). Fixed remuneration is over 1.5 million a year.
Signed author will also have the priority to gain the drawing works more than 40 kinds of excellent children’s books published by Xue You Yuan in priority.
At the same time, the finalist prize winners (or teams) will become the VIP member of the comic co-operation studio which was founded by Xue You Web and Zhongman Web. They will have the priority to participate the comics and animation-related activities which held by the both website.
7. Legal Statements.
a) The organization has the right to use all the submitting work in such conditions: promotional materials, related publications, authorized media propaganda, official websites and users’ downloads, the Award Show and the exhibitions.
b) Authors can participate other similar contests by using the same works outside the period of this cartoon image contest. However, the consequences caused by these behaviors that may be causing conflict with other contest organizers or related agencies will be undertaken by participants selves.
c) Entries have to be original works. Participants should have full intellectual property rights. Infringement of intellectual property is forbidden. Participants will be disqualified immediately and bear all legal responsibility if such infringement acts are found.
d) Entries cannot include any contents of the violation of laws and insult to other people. Participants will be disqualified immediately and bear all legal responsibility if such infringement acts are found.
e) Organizing committee has the final right of interpretation.
