RULES
1. Nature and scope of the Salon
The 1st Amazon Humor Salon – Ecology in a line-drawing, intends to be part of the agenda of events related to cartoon production in Brazil and abroad, aiming at stimulating and publicizing cartoonists in general. It is important that this salon is a graphic platform that will show the talent and critic perception of all cartoonists concerned with ecological problems that afflict our planet, specially the Amazon region.
2. Deadlines
The 1st Amazon Humor Salon – Ecology in a line-drawing will take place from March 25th to 30th. See deadlines below:
a) Deadline for entries: March 5th, 2008;

b) Selection of entries: March 15th, 2008;

c) Opening and Award Ceremony: March 25th, 2008;

d) Closing ceremony: March 30th, 2008.
3. Themes
a) Ecology (Compulsory) - In this category will be all cartoons whose theme is related to ecological problems.
b) Communication - In this category will be all cartoons whose theme is related to communication around the world.
4. Registration
a) Works must be submitted by e-mail, 300 dpi resolution image; dimension of 3,543 x 4,724 pixels or 30 x 40 cm; RGB color model; jpg format (average quality = 5) maximum size of 1.5 MB, along with the Entry Form containing the following data: name of the author, fictitious name, address, phone numbers, e-mail, ID card or Passport number and bank account details.
b) Each author may sent a maximum of two works per theme:
1- Theme: ecology 2- Theme: communication.

c) Entries must be sent to the following e-mails: salaohumordaamazonia@gmail.com / contato@centralcinevideo.com until March 5th, 2008.
5. Jury
a) The organizing team of the 1st Amazon Humor Salon will appoint a Pre-Selection Committee whose responsibility will be to select the works that will take part in the exhibition and in contest. This Committee will also select the works that will be in the catalogue;

b) The Jury will be constituted by five members qualified professionals in the field.

c) The president of the Jury will be an artist specially invited for the event;

d) The number of works in the catalogue may be different from the number selected for the exhibition. No complaints on this matter will be considered;

e) The Jury is responsible for granting prizes and special awards;

f) Decisions made by the Jury and the Pre-Selection Committee are final.
6. Works and originals
a) Submitted works will not be returned and will be part of the Amazon Humor Salon’s collection.

b) The production company Central de Produção – Cinema e Vídeo na Amazônia, which is responsible for this project, has the right to use any submitted work, at any time, for publicizing the event.

c) None of the works will be put for sale or used for commercial purposes.
7. Catalogue
a) All participants with works selected for the catalogue will receive a copy of it
8. Copyright
a) Submitting a work will imply that the author grants reproduction rights to the salon for non-commercial purposes.

b) All rights of prize-winning works will be automatically given to the organization of the 1st Amazon Humor Salon.
11. Prizes
a) A total of 4 (four) prizes will be given:

b) Prizes are subject to tax withholdings as established by the current and applicable law.

c) All prize and special awards winners will receive a trophy and a certificate.

e) All authors with works selected for the exhibition and catalogue will receive a certificate of participation in the salon.
9. Venues and Dates
The 1st Amazon Humor Salon – Ecology in a line-drawing will take place in the city of Belém, State of Pará, Brazil, from March 25th to 30th, 2008, at Boulevard das Feiras, Estação das Docas.

Results Yilmaz Guney Caricature Contest - Turkey

Results of Yilmaz Guney Culture and Art Festival Caricature Contest

The cartoon contest organized along with others in the context of Yilmaz Guney Culture and Art Festival has concluded. The Selection Committee comprised of cartoonists Canol Kocagoz, Mete Gokturk, Kamil Yavuz, E. Yaşar Babalik, Seyit Saatci and Askin Ayrancioglu convened on January 13 and after examining the 126 cartoons sent in for the festival they decided to award the "Honor Plaque of the Festival" to Hicabi Demirci (Turkey), Louis Pol (Australia), Sevket Yalaz (Turkey), and Sait Munzur (Turkey). Bayram Hajizadeh (Azerbaijan) is awarded the "Special Prize of the Selection Committee" while "Yilmaz Guney Freedom Prize"s went to Mahmut Ulusan and Mehmet Bogatekin. The Committee awarded “Promising Young Caricaturist” award plaques to Seref Kaya and Esma Balkan among participants younger than 18 years of age.

The exhibition and the prize-giving ceremony will take place at Yeni Melek Cultural Center in Beyoglu, Istanbul on January 27, 2008. The cartoons selected for the exhibition will be put in a catalogue and each cartoonist will receive one free of charge.

TOURISM IN MEDITERRANEAN
Mediterranean catchment which is the meeting point of Asia, Europe and Africa has the characteristic to be a cradle of the cultures that constitute contemporary world civilization. Mediterranean is wholly a separate world .
Mediterranean had been witness to chipping of the stone, cultivation of soil, working with iron, invention of the writing, production of the glass, usage of the money, beginning of the commerce, construction of the temples, discovery of the stars and the tone of the music which makes the human being a person. Mediterranean is a history itself. If tourism has a history, it begins from the Mediterranean because Mediterranean is also the center of tourism. Therefore, "tourism in Mediterranean" is the subject of this contest. Our call is to all cartoonists of the world: “Draw, draw the tourism in Mediterranean”.
SUBJECT
“Tourism in Mediterranean”RULES
1. The contest is organized by Alanya Tourism and Promotion Foundation and it is open to the cartoonists worldwide.
2. The works contributed to this contest may have been published before; however, they should not have received any prize in any type of contest.
3. Each artist should contribute with only one work. They should not be computer print-outs or photocopied.
4. If there is any script involved, it should either be in English or Turkish.
5. The size should not exceed 30x40 cm.
6. Participants should write their names, family names, country, address and telephone number (s) in capital letters on the back of their works and they should enclose a short biography either in English or Turkish.
7. The contributions should be received by the following address prior to May 1, 2008.

The Bucovina Museum Complex from Suceava invites you to participate to the International Exhibition of Satirical Graphic: “PUBLICITY”, the 2 nd Edition.
The International Exhibition of Satirical Graphic has as theme: “Publicity”.

8th International Editorial Cartoon Competition 2008 - Canada

8th International Editorial Cartoon Competition 2008
1. The theme for 8th International Editorial Cartoon Competition 2008 is:
"Rewriting history"
2. Three prizes will be awarded.

First prize: $1500, crystal trophy, and Canadian UNESCO certificate.

Second prize: $750 plus a certificate.

Third prize: $500 and certificate.

All sums are in Canadian dollars.

Ten additional cartoons will each receive an Award of Excellence. Regrettably no financial remuneration accompanies Awards of Excellence.
3. A maximum of three cartoons will be accepted from each cartoonist. They may be in colour or black and white. They may be sent as attachments to an e-mail. They may not have previously won an award. They will not be returned.
4. The size of the cartoon should not exceed 8.5 by 11 inches.
5. The cartoonist's name, address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address (if available) must be on the reverse side of each cartoon or in the body of the e-mail to which the cartoon is attached. A short biography of the Cartoonist should be provided.
6. The Canadian Committee for World Press shall have the rights to use any of the cartoons entered in the Competition for promotion of the Luncheon or World Press Freedom Day 2 May. Participation in the competition implies agreement by the cartoonist to the conditions of this article.
7. The winners of the Competition will be announced at the World Press Freedom Day Luncheon held at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, on May 2, 2008 and will be advised by mail or fax or e-mail. The results may be posted on the National Press Club Web site http://www.pressclub.on.ca/ the 3rd of May, 2008.
8. Entry deadline is 5 pm Eastern Standard Time, Friday, March 28, 2008.

25th Aydin Dogan Cartoon Competition - Turkey

25th Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition - Turkey
The Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition is held every year in Turkey by the Aydın Doğan Foundation. The competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.
General Information
1) Participants take part in the competition with an original cartoon. Cartoons must be signed by the cartoonist in case that they are submitted as computer print outs. Photographs, photocopies, etc., will not be accepted.
2) Size of cartoons should not exceed 29.7 x 42 cm (A3 paper size).
3) The Foundation will not be responsible for damage that may occur during postage and handling.
4) Competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.
5) Choice of subject is free.
6) Participants are expected to send the filled in participation form, a short curriculum vitae with photograph together with their cartoons. Otherwise applications will not be considered.
7) The Jury composed of foreign members will meet in June 2008.
8) The Foundation will cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the first three prize-winning caartoonists for the award ceremony in Turkey.
9) Award-winning cartoons will not be returned to the artists.
10) By filling in the entrance form attached, the participant declares and accepts in advance that (s)he has turned over the financial rights (s)he holds over the cartoon or cartoons vis-à-vis the public to the Aydın Doğan Foundation without limitations on location, time period and number including assignment to third parties under Articles 21-25 of the Law on Intellectual Property Rights for publication. (S)he agrees that the Aydın Doğan Foundation may use such cartoons, exhibit them, keep them in its archives and publish them on the Internet or through other media.
11) Cartoons which do not win awards will be returned to the artists upon written request.
12) Participants may also leave the cartoons to the Cartoon Museum, to be established by the Foundation.
13) XXV. Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition will be celebrated with an award ceremony in November 2008 in Istanbul.
14) Deadline for entries is Friday, May 2nd, 2008.

APHORISM:

• In this category each author can participate with a work, consisting of up to 15 aphorisms, printed in three copies, completed with code and particulars of the author, set in a sealed envelope.

• Authors are allowed to participate even with more works, as group of 15 aphorisms, each with a particular code.
CARICATURE:

• In this category the author can send up to three caricatures, own choice of technique, max. dimensions 30 x 40 cm.

GOLDEN KEG 2008
On Tuesday, 1st April 2008, an exhibition of the best competing works, a festive announcement of the results and the handing of prizes to the most successful authors of the 14th competition in accordance with the Jury’s decision will take place as follows:

International Contest of Caricature and Cartoon Vianden 2008
Les Amis Château de Vianden a.s.b.l. and the Museum of the Caricature of Vianden are pleased to announce their 1st INTERNATIONAL CONTEST OF CARICATURE AND CARTOON OF VIANDEN
1. Subject: THE LIFE AT THE MEDIEVAL CASTLE
2. Deadline: 20th March 2008
3. Prizes:
1st prize: 2000 €

4. Entries:
- Initially each participant can send at most 3 works in digital form via Internet to the following address: cartoon@caricature.eu The author must indicate in his e-mail the following informations: his first name, name, complete address, e-mail address, his phone number and the title of each work. The characteristics of these electronic sendings are as follows: format JPEG, good quality and max. 500 KB per picture .
- Out of these sendings by e-mail the jury will make a selection of 120 drawings and will request from the authors of these works the sending by mail of the originals for the choice of the prizes and the publication in the catalogue. All these 120 originals will be shown in the exhibition. Their size will be between DIN A4 (210 x 297 mm) and DIN A3 (297 x 420 mm), the paper of good quality, not folded and without a passe-partout. On the back side of every work must be clearly mentioned the first name, the name, the complete address, the e-mail address, the phone number of the author as well as the title of the work. This deadline is 10 th April 2008.
5. Technique: Free, black and white or in color, without captions.
6. Exhibition: The award ceremony will be held on 25 th April 2008 in the castle and the exhibition will take place in the Hall of the knights of the Castle-palace of Vianden from 26 th April 2008 until 25 th May 2008. Then the exhibition will take place in the Museum of Caricature of Vianden until 30 th October 2008.
7. Returns: After 30 th October 2008 the originals will be returned to their authors except the works selected for one of the prizes. The awarded works will become property of the organizer.
The organizer cannot be held responsible for loss or damage during sending back.
8. Catalogue: The authors whose works will be selected for the exhibition will receive a free catalogue by mail. Prize winners will get their catalogue during the handing over of the prizes.
9. Results: The publication of the results will be done on the Internet sites http://www.caricature.eu/ and http://www.castle-vianden.lu/ 26th April 2008. The award winners selected by the jury will be personally informed by e-mail or by phone.
The final decisions of the jury, which will meet on the 22th March 2008, are undeniable.
10. Copyright: The selected participants allow the organizers to use their works only for promoting the author, as well as the event. All other copyright remains property of the author.
