REGULATIONS OF INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION SATYRYKON-LEGNICA 2009 - POLAND
PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

1. The SATYRYKON 2009 International Exhibition is an open competition.
2. The objects of the competition are drawings, graphics and other works of fine arts and photography created with the use of optional techniques, being originals, completed within the recent two years (2008-2009), and qualified by artists to:

A) HUMOR and SOCIAL SATIRE (drawing without captions preferred)

B) W O M E N mother, wife, lover, working woman, artist, feminist... (drawing without captions preferred)
3. WORKS AWARDED IN OTHER COMPETITIONS will be excluded from the competition.
4. The format of the works - maximum A3 (297 x 420 mm).
5. Works should be sent or delivered by February 7, 2009, packed in a protective cover to:

Organisers are not responsible for transport damages.

THE PARTICIPANTS ARE KINDLY ASKED NOT TO POST THE WORKS VIA ELECTRONIC MEANS AS THESE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR THE COMPETITION.
6. Participation in the competition is free of charge. However, the organiser reserve the right to include one of the submitted works in the Satyrykon Gallery. The work, chosen by the author, will in this way cover our costs of mailing (please use capitals).
7. Works should be accompanied by their author's photo or caricature, a short biographical note and a filled application card.
PRIZES
1. Works for the competition will be qualified by the International Jury.
2. The Jury will award the following prizes:
* GRAND PRIX SATYRYKON 2009 - pure gold key and purse amounting to 5.500 PLN
* 2 gold medals and purses amounting to 5.000 PLN
* 2 silver medals and purses amounting to 4.500 PLN
* 2 bronze medals and purses amounting to 4.000 PLN
* 4 special prizes amounting to 3.500 PLN each
* the Legnica Culture Centre director's award and purse amounting to 3.500 PLN for photographic work.
The Jury has the right of final distribution of the statutory prizes, change of their amount, or non-awarding them or non-awarding the GRAND PRIX SATYRYKON. Jury's decisions are final. The competition results will be announced on March 1, 2009 at Satyrykon web site: http://www.satyrykon.com/.

Awards are subject to taxation according to the current regulations. The condition to pay the authors is their arrival for the opening of the exhibition and collection of their awards by December 15, 2009, or indicating a bank account the money should be transferred to.
PRIVILAGES OF PARTICIPANTS
1. Authors of work qualified to the exhibition are given a presentation copy of the exhibition catalogue and a free-of-charge place in the catalogue.
2. The organisers provide the competition prize-winners with gratuitous participation in the SATYRYKON 2009 event on June 12-15, 2009.
3. Works sent to the exhibitions will be exhibited in the country and abroad after the main exhibition, and then will be returned to their authors by the end of 2010.
FINAL PROVISIONS
1. The organisers reserve the right to use the sent works for SATYRYKON advertising purposes without any special fees paid to the authors: to be exhibited and reproduced in a variety of advertising materials, as well as printed and circulated in catalogues.
2. The prize-winning works become the property of the organisers and will be included in the collection of the Satyrykon Gallery.
3. The exhibition organisers are the finial judges in interpretation of the regulations.
4. Sending his work the artist agrees to the mentioned above rules and regulations and agree to the publishing of the author's profile in the post-exhibition catalogue.

XVI INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL GRAPHIC HUMOR CUBA 2009 "Homo sapiens S.O.S"
From March 29 to April 2, 2009 Headquarters: San Antonio de los Baños Headquarters: Havana
The Union of Cuban Journalists, the Circle of Humorists and Cartoonists of the UPEC, and the Museum of Humor of San Antonio de los Baños, called the XVI International Biennial of Graphic Humor Cuba 2009, to be held from March 29 to April 2, with the coauspicio of the Directorate of Culture in Havana, and Latin American Federation of Journalists (Felap).
For the salvation of the species proposed the meeting in a world where we talk about emissions of carbon emissions and climate change, media manipulation, deforestation, desertification, inequality, war, unipolarity, xenophobia. Those who make you laugh and think being called a planet, where campea irrationality of the privileged to maintain their wealth and turn food into energy. The increasingly hungry stomachs of the poor of the land claim to the danger to jungles, forests, and the air we breathe. We call on the cartoonist for the defense of humanity.

Participating in the meeting is open to all professionals of humor figure in the world and can compete in the following categories:
. General humor (Humor general)
. Political satire (Sátira política)
. Comics (Historieta Humorística)
. Caricature portrait (Caricatura personal)
. Humorous photograph (Fotografía humorística).
Will be accepted processed digitally printed works in any category of the previously expressed.
Can be sent up to 3 works in each category.
The original works will be performed in any technical format with a maximum of 40 x 50 cm.
Should be included in each work the following information about the author:
Contact name (also stage name), Country, Category in which competition, Address, E-mail.

Of the jurors:
A selection of works presented, made by a jury of admission specialist, will be shown at the XVI International Exhibition of Graphic Humor in San Antonio de los Baños. An international jury, comprising prestigious figures of graphic humor, awarded the prizes.
Of the prizes:
. Eduardo Abela prize, consisting of Diploma and 1000 CUC
. First, second and third place prizes in each category, which consists of a diploma.
. Other prizes handed by Cuban cultural institutions.
Meetings of cartoonists:
From March 29 to April 2 workshops will be held theoretical and artistic creation in San Antonio de los Baños and the City of Havana, so that participants can exchange experiences, to publicize his book (do not leave your portfolio in home) and reflect on the role of humor in the twenty-first century. Also attending the opening exhibition of graphic humor.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Welcome. We wish every success for your entry in the Nineteenth International Biennial Exhibition of Humour and Satire in the Arts.
1.This International Exhibit and Festival recognizes the highest achievements of humour and satire in the following CATEGORIES, each to have its own exhibition area:
- CARTOONS
- GRAPHICS & DRAWINGS
- PAINTINGS
- SCULPTURE
- POSTERS
- PHOTOGRAPHS

Museum HOUSE OF HUMOUR AND SATIRE, Gabrovo Municipality, the Ministry of Culture and the Humour of the Peoples Society; the Organizing Committee is chaired by the Mayor of Gabrovo.

5.JURY
A jury of professional artists and former Biennial winners selects the works for the exhibitions and awards the prizes. The decisions of the jury are final and there is no appeal.
6.PRIZES
- GRAND PRIX - the GOLDEN AESOP statuette, 2 000 BGN, a certificate and an invitation to stage a one-artist show during Biennial 2011.
- PRIZE of the town of GABROVO - the GASCAR statuette, 1 500 BGN and a certificate.
- Prizes (six) of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria – 1 000 BGN each and a certificate in each category.
SPECIAL PRIZES
- Prize for sculpture awarded by Skalni Materiali JS Co–Rousse – 2 000 BGN and a certificate
- Prize of Skalni Materiali JS Co-Rousse - 1 000 BGN and a certificate - awarded to a young sculptor (up to 35 yrs.)
- Prize of LIONS CLUB of Baden/Helenental, Austria - 500 EUR and a certificate - awarded to a young Bulgarian graphic artist (up to 30 yrs.)
- Prize of the Humour of the Peoples Society - 400 BGN and a certificate
- Prize of Inter Data Systems, Co. - professional Lowepro photo backpack and a certificate; prize goes to the funniest photograph submitted.
SPECIAL SUBJECT MATTER PRIZES
- Prize for poster of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bulgaria on Life Free of Tobacco Smoke – 800 BGN and a certificate
- Prize for cartoon of Prestigio Technologies Ltd. on The Art of hi-Tech – Prestigio Data Safe I external hard drive
- Prize for photograph of Prestigio Technologies Ltd. on The Art of hi-Tech – Prestigio Data Safe I external hard drive
- Prize for poster of Prestigio Technologies Ltd. on The Art of hi-Tech – Prestigio Data Safe I external hard drive
- Prize for cartoon of the Directorate of CENTRAL BALKAN National Park on Safeguarding Nature - a 3-day visit to CENTRAL BALKAN National Park and a certificate.
- Prize of Gabrovo Planet Society - the Gabrovo Planet statuette, 100 BGN and a certificate - awarded to the best work on Gabrovo subject matter.
The cash prizes in BGN (Bulgarian Leva) are subject to taxation in conformity with Bulgarian law. The prize winning works remain in the Humour of the Peoples collection of the Museum HOUSE OF HUMOUR AND SATIRE. The latter reserves the right to extend personal invitations to the prize winners to attend the prize-awarding ceremony.
GENERAL ENTRY RULES
1. ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to all artists who accept the conditions of entry. The working languages are Bulgarian and English. In case of disagreement on the interpretation of the text, the Bulgarian text is the valid one.

The conditions of entry (in Bulgarian, English, German, French and Russian), the jury members and the recognition of the entries received, selected and awarded can be viewed at http://www.humorhouse.bg .
INDIVIDUAL NOTIFICATION WILL NOT BE MADE TO BIENNIAL ENTRANTS.
3. All art works should be originals signed by the entrants and entrants' property. They should not have been awarded before. Any technique is acceptable.
4. MAXIMUM SIZES
- CARTOONS A4 (29 x 21 cm)
- GRAPHICS & DRAWINGS 70 x 100 cm
- PAINTINGS 150 x 150 cm
- SCULPTURE 80 cm maximum height and 20 kg maximum weight
- POSTERS 70 x 100 cm
- PHOTOGRAPHS 30 x 40 cm
5. Each artist may submit up to 5 entries for each category, but no more than 2 works can be selected for exhibition.
6. The artist's name, title of the work, year of creation, technique, value and category type should be printed on the back of each entry. Each work should be accompanied by an Entry-form completed in capital block letters in either Bulgarian or English.
7. Unless indicated otherwise, all entries submitted will be considered donations to the Humour of the Peoples collection at the House of Humour and Satire; therefore, artists are requested to complete and sign the Certificate of Donation on the entry form. The organizers greatly appreciate these donations which will significantly enhance the international collections to be enjoyed by all. The donors' names will be listed on the homepage of the House of Humour and Satire; the donated works will be shown in future exhibitions both in Bulgaria and abroad.
8. Artists who cannot donate their work and explicitly indicate TO BE RETURNED on the entry form should deposit by September 30, 2009 the following return sums which cover packaging, dispatching and postage charges:
- CARTOONS, GRAPHICS, DRAWINGS, POSTERS and PHOTOGRAPHS – 20 EUR
- PAINTINGS – 80 EUR
- SCULPTURE – 130 EUR
The artists will have their works returned by December 31, 2009.
Works lacking return postage by September 30, 2009 and unclaimed by the artists until December 31, 2009 will be registered in the Humour of the Peoples collection.

10. All entries should be sent frameless and unmounted as printed matter with PRINTED MATTER noted on the package.
11. Artists should cover the transport costs franco Gabrovo. The organizers will not collect packages sent franco other destinations.
12. The Museum HOUSE OF HUMOUR AND SATIRE guarantees the safety of the works from the date of receipt to the date of return. No responsibility is assumed for damage or loss during transit.
13. The Museum HOUSE OF HUMOUR AND SATIRE reserves the right to reproduce the works on display and have them printed in its publications and other publicity materials.
14. The Museum HOUSE OF HUMOUR AND SATIRE publishes an art catalogue of the works selected for display. Only artists with selected works are entitled to a free copy. The catalogue is available at the museum gift shop and all other artists can have it for 50 EUR (postage included) remitted according to item 9.
15. The conditions of entry are contractually binding. By submitting works to the Biennial Exhibition artists agree to the terms of this contract.
