Cartoonists and fine artists from all over the world have the right to participate. They should submit at most three (3) original cartoons, which have not been awarded by any other international competition, on the subjects of antiwar as well as solidarity between people and nations. Digital prints will be accepted only if they are signed by the artist. The artworks should be utmost A4-A3 formated, while art technique is at the artist’s choice. On the back of the artwork there should be written data on the artist (such as: name, surname, address, phone/fax, e-mail).
The submission deadline is September 13, 2013.
The jury session is to be held on September 13-14, 2013.

NOTE:
So far the 16th International Antiwar Cartoon Salon «Kragujevac 2011» had great international promotion and afirmation. On the occasion of the award ceremony the prizes were handed over and the exhibition was opened in Kragujevac.
Afterwards, the 16th Salon exhibition was launched in Pitesti, Romania, on the of Day of the Romanian Statehood. Later, it was part of the International festival «The World is Colourfull» held in Ingostadt, Germany, and then it was presented in the European Commission headquaters Charlemagne building to over 500 begginning civil-service employees from more than 58 countries.
Upon the International Day of Peace on September 21, the show was on in Plonsk, previously it was in Wielun, and this Polish tour ended in Oswiecim (Auschwitz).
The selected works of the 16th Salon also were on display in New Haven, USA, which is the presiding of the International Association of the Peace Messanger Cities (IAPMC), the association that is the main patron of the Salon awarding the Grand Prix «The Pease Messanger». When back from the USA, the exhibition is going to be shown in Belgrade, Serbia.
The Salon's exhibition has been invited to be the side programe at the IAPMC General Assembly session in Messolonghi, Greece, this October.
The 17th Salon's exhibition is going to be open in Oswiecim (Auschwitz), Poland, on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remmembrance Day in January 2014.

In remembrance of the Eminent Historian Late P.C. Rath, P.C. Rath Memorial Trust invites cartoons from both professional and amateur cartoonists of the world.
DETAILS OF THE CONTEST

8. RIGHTS OF THE ORGANIZER:
A) Once sent, the works belong to the organizing committee. It can be published, distributed or used for promotional purpose in future.
B) Cartoons should be downloadable and clear. Committee would not be responsible in situations like net-failure, undownloadable cartoon etc. It is therefore advised to keep the file small.
C) Plagiarism, if detected, the entry will be summarily rejected or even the diploma would be withdrawn, if awarded.
D) In case of a dispute, decision of the Committee would be final. The committee reserves all rights to cancel or modify any of the rules/conditions.

9th International Comics and Cartoon Festival: Ninth Art 2013, Kosovo

COMPETITION FOR THE 9. INTERNATIONAL COMICS AND CARTOON FESTİVAL “NINTH ART 2013”, KOSOVO
- The Kosovo Comic Book Artists Association "Xhennet Comics" is organizing the 9th Internacional Festival of Comics and Cartoons.
- The Festival will be held from 7 until 10 September 2013 on the Gallery "Hamam" in Prizren, KOSOVO.
- The Festival is not going to be competitive; however 15 foreign and 10 Kosovar artists will be elected from the jury to have the expenses of travel and hotel accommodation covered for 3 days.
- All the participants of the festival will be delivered with the Catalogue, T-shirts with Festival logo, and the Certificate of Gratitude. Those absent will receive the catalogue via e-mail, PDF file or they can download from the official web site of the association.
- The Festival of Comics and Cartoons is held every year in Prizren, Republic of Kosova, organized from the Kosovo Comic Book Artists Association "Xhennet Comics".
- The festival is open for every artist, professional or amateur, from all around the world.
Participating Conditions:
1. The genre and topic are free, whether for Comics or Cartoons.
2. The Works may be done from one or more artists.
3. The works can be posted to us or they can send through e-maıl which has to have a good scan at least 300 dpi. The Participant can send his/her work through e-mail - a good scan with minimum 300 dpi.
4. Comics and Cartoons should be from 1 to 6 pages (A3 or A4 format).
5. The language of texts is free to all of the world's languages (preferable in English).

20th International Exhibition of the Arts of Humor, University of Alcalá 2013, Spain

The Quevedo Institute of Humor of the General Foundation of the University of Alcalá announces the 20th International Exhibition of the Arts of Humor. The title for this edition will be “OTROS TRABAJOS, OTRAS ECONOMÍAS (JOBrobados)” = (“OTHER JOBS, OTHER ECONOMIES”).
The economic situation in many countries is creating new levels of precariousness reflected in the temporary hiring, corruption, bad work conditions, abuse of the internships, underground economy ...
The 20th International Exhibition of the Arts of Humor IS NOT a competitive contest.
The exhibition will be divided in four sections: Graphic humor, video and animation, audio and literary humor.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1. All the persons older than 18 can take part in one or several sections of the exhibition.

3. There will be a Selection Committee per each section. Those committees will make a selection of the works that will be displayed in the 20th International Exhibition of the Arts of Humor that will be organized in the last months of 2013. The organization will contact the authors with works to be displayed, and a list of the selected work will be published in the website of the exhibition.
4. The authors with works selected for the exhibition will receive a copy of the catalogue that will be edited for the 20th International Exhibition of the Arts of Humor.
5. The works selected will be part of the documentary collection of the Quevedo Institute of Humor.
6. When sending their works, the authors are giving the General Foundation of the University of Alcalá the authorization of reproducing, and spreading their works. That reproduction and/or spreading must be done always making a reference to the author’s name and its objective must be related to the content of the exhibition, with no obligation generated regarding the authorship of the work.
7. The organization reserves the right of not displaying those works that could violate individual or collective rights.
8. The participants will be responsible before any claim on the authorship of the works. The organization will not be responsible before any claim made by a third party upon the violation of intellectual rights or property of the works.
9. The participation in the Exhibition implies the acceptance of these general requirements and the renounce to any legal claim. The authors will be the sole responsible of their works.
GRAPHIC HUMOR
1. The authors can send a work related to the topic “Otros trabajos, otras economías” (Other jobs, other economies). The works can be made as cartoon, comic strip or caricature. The authors must send the filled formulary attached to these requirements. That formulary can also be found online here. The organization reserves the right to invite those authors that the organization members agree to consider important for the exhibition.
2. The works must be original and must be signed. They can be made with any technique and in any format, with maximum dimensions of A3 (297x420 mm). For digital works, they must be made in formats JPG or TIFF with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, and they must be sent to miah@iqh.es. If the authors want their works to be returned, they must write the word “DEVOLUCIÓN” (Return) in the back part of the original.
VIDEO AND ANIMATION
1. A video or animation must be sent related to the topic “Otros trabajos, otras economías” (Other jobs, other economies). Works can be made in any cinematographic or digital format. The authors must send the filled formulary attached to these requirements. That formulary can also be found online here.
2. The works can be made in any language, but they must have subtitles in Spanish if that is not the language of the original work.
3. The maximum duration of the works will be 3 minutes.
4. The works can be sent in any digital format (AVI or MP4 recommended), stored in digital format and, if they are CDs or DVDs, they must be sent with a case with the title and the work and the name(s) of the author(s).
5. The works can also be sent via FTP. A formulary must be sent via online or via email to miah@iqh.es, requesting the passwords for accessing that FTP to send the work.
6. The authors sending the works will be responsible for the intellectual property rights of the music, voices and effects included. They will be responsible in the event that there is any claim made by other authors, interpreters or intellectual property rights managements associations.

Results 13th World Press Freedom International Editorial Cartoon Competition 2013

The jury of the 13th World Press Freedom International Editorial Cartoon Competition, composed of Rod Macdonell, Shawn McCarty and Bado, met last month to choose the winners. Their picks were announced today at the World Press Freedom Day Luncheon at the Ottawa Congress Centre.

The theme: Hard times and free speech
When journalists and cartoonist face economic uncertainty or threats to their employment, there is great pressure to give up on tackling tough stories, give in to self-censorship or give attention to sensationalist journalism in the service of commercial sustainability. But can free speech survive hard times?

Winners in the 18th Dutch Cartoon Festival 2013 with theme "Prejudices and Stereotypes"

The Russian-born Constantin Sunnerberg (See above), currently living in Belgium, received the first prize from the hands of Wim Reijnders, director of the Markiezenhof. This trophy for best cartoon in 2013, plus a cash prize were awarded in the framework of the Cartoon Festival, co-organized by the Markiezenhof, Feco (Federation of Cartoonist Organizations) and Tulip (Dutch Cartoonist Association).
The second prize went to the Dutchman Mark Baars (See below), the third prize went to the Israeli cartoonist Sergey Sichenko.
In addition to the above awards, the Dutchman Jan Zandstra won the award of Dutch Cartoonist Association, the Tulip. The cartoon by Belgian Stefaan Provijn was the winner of De KEVER prize as the best Belgian Cartoon 2013. The FECO prize went to the Romanian artist George Licurici.

Sergei Tunin wins the 1st International "İzmir" Cartoon Competition 2013, Turkey

222 artists sent in 417 works to the 1st International Cartoon Competition 2013 of Konak Municipality with theme "İzmir", Turkey. Terms and conditions
Concept:
The contest will focus at the issue of unemployment in the EU, in order to promote broad strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth "Europe 2020", and in particular youth employment.
In February 2013, 5.694 million young people (under 25) were unemployed in the EU27, of whom 3.581 million were in the euro area. Compared with February 2012, youth unemployment rose by 196 000 in the EU27 and by 188 000 in the euro area. In February 2013, the youth unemployment rate was 23.5% in the EU27 and 23.9% in the euro area, compared with 22.5% and 22.3% respectively in February 2012. In February 2013, the lowest rates were observed in Germany (7.7%), Austria (8.9%) and the Netherlands (10.4%), and the highest in Greece (58.4% in December 2012), Spain (55.7%), Portugal (38.2%) and Italy (37.8%).
The unemployment rate in the USA was 7.7% in February 2013. In Japan it was 4.2% in January 2013.
